What should you pay attention to when installing glass guardrails? What are the regulations?
Guardrails are generally installed in corridors, stairs, and aisles of high-rise buildings. They are also one of the buildings that we often come into contact with every day. It is also called a guardrail. It is mainly used to protect personal safety and equipment and facilities in residential buildings, highways, commercial areas, public places and other places. It can be seen that the role of guardrails is very important. Especially in crowded places, such as hospitals, schools, training institutions, etc., guardrails that need to be installed in these places are essential. So what are the regulatory requirements and precautions for the installation of guardrails? I believe that none of us understand it, so let us get familiar with it now.
Glass guardrail installation - precautions
1. Key points for flat installation of glass guardrails: Glass guardrails must be made of tempered glass or laminated glass. The thickness of the tempered glass should not be less than 12mm, and the glass must not be combined with rigid glass. The nodes are in direct contact, and there should be an elastic material liner between them. When the design uses embedded glass guardrails on both sides, there should be a gap of more than 3mm on both sides of the slot when the glass extends into the column. The gap should be filled with glass sealant, and the glass should be embedded. The depth of the notch is not less than 12mm.
2. Key points for installing the pillars at the base of the glass guardrail: When the guardrail uses glass instead of the pillars, a gap of about 8mm should be left between the glasses, and a gap of about 8mm should also be left at the intersection between the glass and other materials. Gaps should be filled with sealant. The base of the glass guardrail is the key part for fixing the guardrail. It is generally necessary to use angle steel to process and combine it into a fixing piece to fix the glass. The two sides of the fixing piece are fixed firmly with the floor surface using expansion screws or using electric welding and pre-treatment. If the glass is not loose, use a rubber support block with a hardness of 80 to 90 to cushion the bottom of the groove between the glass and the fixing piece. The depth of the glass extending into the fixing piece should be greater than 100mm. There should be enough space left when the glass extends into both sides of the fixing piece (that is, between the angle steel and the steel plate). Make a 3~6mm gap, use a neoprene rubber plate as a liner, and clamp the glass.
Glass guardrail installation - installation specifications
1. The height of the railing. According to residential design regulations. 1) The actual balcony railings of low-rise and multi-storey residences should not be less than 1.05m, and the net height of balcony railings of mid-rise and high-rise residences should not be less than 1.10m. [Residential Design Code (GB50096-1999) Section 3.7.3 Regulations].2) The height of the stair handrail should not be less than 0.90m. When the length of the horizontal section of the stair railing is greater than 0.5m, the height of the handrail should not be less than 1.05m, and the clear distance between the vertical members of the stair railing should not be greater than 0.11m.
2. The balcony railings should be designed to prevent children from climbing. The clearance between the vertical poles of the railings should not be greater than 0.11m. Anti-fall measures must be taken where flower pots are placed. If the net width of the stairwell is greater than 0.11m, measures must be taken to prevent children from climbing and sliding. [Articles 3.7.2 and 4.1.5 of "Residential Design Code" (GB50096-1999)]
3. The clear distance between the vertical members of railings and handrails should not be greater than 0.11m to prevent children from drilling out.
4. The quantity, specification, location of the embedded parts and the connection nodes between the guardrails and the embedded parts should comply with the design and specification requirements, and the installation should be strong and firm.
5. The railing glass that bears horizontal load must use tempered glass or tempered laminated glass with a nominal thickness of not less than 12mm.
6. When the height of one side of the guardrail from the building or the ground is greater than ?5m, tempered laminated glass should be used.
I believe that through the above brief introduction, everyone has a certain understanding of the installation requirements and precautions for guardrails. We must know that guardrails are to protect our own safety. Whether in public places or in our own homes, wherever guardrails must be installed, guardrails are one of the indispensable buildings. For example, guardrails are installed on the balconies of our homes and on the stairs leading to the rooms upstairs. Firstly, they are not only for the sake of beauty but also for our safety. Especially if there are elderly people or children at home, a layer of protective devices must be added to the guardrails on the balcony. These are things you must understand.
