Geomorphology of Cangshan Erhai National Nature Reserve

Cangshan Erhai Lake is located in the strongest radial structural belt in China, that is, the eastern edge of the Kangzang zigzag structural fold belt. This is a huge deep fault. The crust rises in the west and falls in the east. Erhai fault is the dividing line between the central Yunnan plateau and Hengduan mountain area. In the process of strong uplift, the strata collapsed alternately, and the uplift block formed Cangshan fault block mountain, the subsidence block became fault basin, and the accumulated water became Erhai Lake. It is a typical inland fault basin.

Cangshan starts from Shimonoseki in the south and reaches Dengchuan Town in Eryuan County in the north. It stretches for 45 kilometers from north to south and is about 10 kilometers wide from east to west. There are 19 peaks in Cangshan Mountain. The highest peak, Malong Peak, is 4 122 meters above sea level, with a relative elevation difference of 2,562 meters from Yangbi Valley on the west slope and 2 156 meters from Dongpo Dali Basin.
