Hong Kong people can book air tickets in the Mainland as long as they have a receipt.

You can order directly from travel agencies, travel websites or airlines in official website.

If booking tickets through online systems (including travel websites and airline websites), you need to enter your ID number. Please find the place where you choose the ID card type and choose the Home Visit Permit. If there is no home visit permit option, you can choose a passport, because passports will contain foreign passports, and the length of passport numbers on different passports is different, so the ID number entered after choosing a passport will be rejected because of the length problem.

Note that the number of the Home Visit Permit is H+8 digits, and the replacement number of the next 2 digits is not required.
