Can the hotel deposit be refunded because of the epidemic?

Legal analysis: Yes. The epidemic situation is a force majeure factor. Force majeure refers to an objective situation that cannot be foreseen, avoided and overcome. The sources of force majeure include both natural phenomena, such as earthquakes and typhoons, and social phenomena, such as military operations. As an irresistible force of human resources, it has objective contingency and inevitability, subjective unpredictability and social harm.

Legal basis: Article 180 of the Civil Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) shall not bear civil liability if it fails to perform its civil obligations due to force majeure. Where there are other provisions in the law, those provisions shall prevail.

Force majeure is an unforeseeable, unavoidable and insurmountable objective situation.
