Another Treasure of Shanghai-Old Shipyard 1862

A new landmark on the Huangpu River-1862 Fashion Art Center. Six months ago, when I first came to the shipyard, I was amazed at the endless super runway next to it. I can't help admiring that there is such a good place to run. It is my dream to work here, so I don't have to worry about having nowhere to run anymore, although I have only run once so far.

Secondly, I was moved by this building transformed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The longer you stay in it, the longer it takes, and the more mottled columns and rusty iron pipes make you want to know its past life!

This shipyard was founded in 1862, and has experienced a century and a half in the wind and rain. Its predecessor was built by British businessmen and named Xiangsheng Shipyard. After the founding of New China, it evolved into a Shanghai Shipyard. At the beginning of the factory, arms were made, and then the opium trade needed to repair ships, so many shipyards were built along the Huangpu River. The first domestic ship with an export capacity of 10,000 tons "Shaoxing" was launched at Xiangsheng Shipyard, which recorded the development history of China shipbuilding industry.

In 2005, Shanghai Shipyard was shut down and the main part of production was moved to Chongming Island. Lujiazui Riverside Financial City was built on the old site, and some shipyards along the Pujiang River were preserved as historical sites.

According to people who have worked in the shipyard, this rectangular box-shaped building is actually a blanking workshop, which specializes in making hull shells and transporting them to the dock to assemble the hull after production.

environment

Lujiazui Financial City has been transformed, and now this land has been occupied by luxury houses, high-end hotels, banks and office buildings. Together with the art center like the shipyard, it has become an economic-based art and cultural exchange center.

Functional layout

The shipyard is located at the northern end of Jimo Road, which runs through the whole base. The east-west direction is 200 meters long, the north-south direction is 45 meters wide, and the maximum clear height is 25 meters. Inside is the transparent space of the sky dome.

The whole case was handled by Kengo Kuma Architecture and Urban Design Office (KKAA), and Arup provided engineering design services. The owner hopes to tell future generations the past glory here through design and transformation, and at the same time let people who have worked here see that their memories have been preserved.

Therefore, such a fashion art space with a sense of history and industry was born. It consists of 800 medium-sized art theaters-1862 Fashion Art Center and16000m2 Immersed Art Business Center.

1862 Art Theatre was put into use on 18. Except for the seats and the stage, other elements of the interior are similar. The audience hall of the theater consists of a pool seat and a floor-to-ceiling balcony with VIP seats, which can accommodate about 800 people in total.

The seats in the auditorium can be moved and stored, which makes the space more flexible and suitable for different performances and activities. Even more amazing is that the background of the stage is a glass soundproof door that can be opened electrically. Open it, you can get closer to Huangpu River, and you can hear the sound of rivers and whistles!

There will be famous art performances from all over the world, which is a good place to enhance artistic aesthetics!

Business center has many formats, such as automobile brand experience center, boutique retail, high-end catering, art shop, gallery and so on.

British luxury sports car aston martin's first Asia-Pacific experience store, Rolls Royce, Xun Mei's first Gaoding Experience Center focusing on international high-end handmade shoes customization, Oriental Yan Rong and other high-end catering brands, MoMA products of the World Excellent Museum of Contemporary Art, Tiangong Painting Culture Home Art Museum, high-end furniture Su Pu, Kasina, etc. all gather here.

Unique aesthetic feeling

1. The sense of scale is different from that of ordinary buildings.

This building is built according to the scale of the ship, which is completely different from the scale of the building we usually contact, so in order to reflect this large scale, the space around the old pillar from the atrium to the top is left blank, and many inclined rectangular skylights are opened on it, so that light can flow naturally in the space as time goes by.

2. Unique texture.

If you describe the shape of a building, most of the time your memory will be vague, but you will have a vivid impression of the texture of the building. Because texture can not only stimulate our vision, but also use all the five senses of the human body to increase the memory of texture, Shipyard 1862 has done this well.

Rusted pipes, weathered concrete columns, mottled iron stairs and red brick exterior walls are all beautiful traces of natural years, which have been preserved in the process of transformation.

In order to coordinate with the original rough and uneven materials, materials with industrial elements such as oxidized rusty steel plates, aerated concrete bricks and stainless steel wire mesh are mainly used in the new area.

For example, four clay bricks with different colors are connected by stainless steel cables with a diameter of 8mm to form a brick curtain wall, which is in harmony with the original brick wall. This is a respect for history and a new expression of modernity.

There is also a lot of waste utilization, combining the old with the new. For example, make a small metal pipe into a signboard, and fix the removed roof panel on the concrete wall in a new way as a decorative wall. ...
