What is a mosaic?
Mosaic is a kind of material in interior decoration design, which is relatively small and has various colors. Mainly used for wall or floor decoration. Commonly used materials are ceramics and glass, which are generally used for home decoration and also used in some public places such as swimming pools and hotels.
2 Mosaic materials
Mosi
This is the most traditional mosaic material, small and unadorned, which retains the original characteristics of ceramics to the greatest extent. Waterproof, moisture-proof and wear-resistant, easy to clean. However, due to its simple form and weak plasticity, it is often used for kitchen, bathroom and exterior wall decoration.
Glass mosaic brick
Glass mosaic is a widely used material in recent years, and it is more environmentally friendly in material selection. Natural minerals and glass have the same fire-proof and moisture-proof characteristics as ceramic mosaics, and are also resistant to chemical corrosion, so the paving effect is better. TINT and others have more choices.
Besides being used for home decoration such as toilets and kitchens, it is also often used in public places such as swimming pools.
However, glass mosaic does not have wear-resistant characteristics, so it is not used for floor decoration.
Marble mosaic
Marble mosaics are often used in hotel lobbies and aisles, with various colors, styles and combinations, which have beautiful effects, but poor corrosion resistance and waterproof performance, and limited application scope.
Metal mosaic
This is a relatively new mosaic material, made of metal material, which is divided into smooth surface and matt surface. With metallic texture and luster, the decorative effect is fashionable and personalized, suitable for young people.

Step 1: Brush the glue.
The first step in pasting mosaics is to brush the glue and use the corresponding adhesive. Glue should be mixed according to a certain proportion, and the mixed glue should be evenly spread on the wall with a plastering knife. Don't apply too much glue, generally the thickness is about 20 mm, pay attention to the glue to be used up within 2-3 hours.
Step 2: Paste the mosaic.
After gluing the wall, align the mosaic with the laid pattern, pay attention to the gap, and stick the mosaic on the wall with a plastering knife or putty shovel to ensure that the mosaic sticks to the wall. You can also put planks on the surface of the mosaic and beat them evenly with a rubber hammer to ensure firmness.
Step 3: Check the paving situation.
After pasting some mosaics, it is necessary to check the paving effect. The gap width between mosaics should be uniform, which can be adjusted with a small gray shovel to check whether there is any defect or fall off between mosaics, and some need to be filled immediately.
Step 4: Tick off the seams.
After the mosaic is laid, it is checked to be correct. With the initial strength, you can start jointing and fill the gaps in the mosaic with caulking agent. It should be noted that the area of each work should not exceed 2 square meters, and it should be evenly daubed to ensure that all gaps can be filled. Within 20-25 minutes after joining, clean the caulking agent on the mosaic surface with a wet cloth.
