Why did an earthquake happen in Putian?
The earthquake near Rinan Island in Putian occurred at 1604 65438+ February 29th, 32nd year of Ming Dynasty, with a magnitude of 8.0. The epicenter was located in Rinan Island in the south of Fujian (1 19.5E, 25.0N Putian Wuqiu sea area), and Putian and Quanzhou were most affected by it. Numerous rural houses in Putian were dumped, and the pool water dried up due to ground fissures. Houses inside and outside Quanzhou have collapsed, rocks and seawater have moved, and there are more boats. There is a crack in Tongan, and water overflows. There are several caves in Zhangpu field, and sand and mud are spewing. Anxi Mountain is cracked. The earthquake affected many counties and cities in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces, and even Guilin, Guangxi, Tongling, Anhui, Lingling, Hunan and Shanghai. This is the first major earthquake in Fujian Province, and the only earthquake with magnitude of 8 in the southeast of China.
