Which city, Shanghai or Nanjing, has the highest consumption? After personal experience, I came to the conclusion: Nanjing is more expensive than Shanghai
This is the travel and history research institute of Traveler Lao Zhang.
Shanghai, an international metropolis, nicknamed "Magic City" by people, is a municipality directly under the Central Government and a super first-tier city in China. If we look at rankings alone, Shanghai is undoubtedly at least in the top two. We often say "Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen"! Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province and the ancient capital of six dynasties, sometimes fails to be the “boss” (in economic terms) in the province and is often surpassed by “little brother” cities such as Wuxi and Suzhou. However, it has still entered the ranks of "new first-tier cities". After all, it still has the foundation.
Generally speaking, there is still a certain gap between the economic strength of the two cities of Nanjing and Shanghai. Of course, Nanjing's influence is slightly worse than that of Shanghai. Geographically, the two cities are only 300 kilometers apart. So, what is the consumption level? Before I visited Nanjing and Shanghai, I heard that the consumption in Shanghai was terrifyingly high. However, after I went there, I discovered that the consumption in Nanjing was higher than that in Shanghai (excluding housing prices).
I like traveling and go to many different cities every year. As a tourist, I look at the consumption level of a city. For foreign tourists, the main consumption items in a city are food and accommodation. I usually choose ordinary business-type hotels, and when it comes to food, I like to taste special snacks from various places. After horizontal comparison of the same grades, my personal experience is that Shanghai Cheaper than consumption in Nanjing.
Of course, I didn’t go to those high-end restaurants, luxury hotels on the Bund in Shanghai, or the Zifeng Building in Nanjing, and I couldn’t afford them. They were said to be too expensive. I went to Shanghai during the New Year's Day holiday this year. The hotel I stayed in was in Jing'an District, Shanghai, which is within the city center. The room price was less than 200 yuan. I went to Nanjing twice, once on a business trip with colleagues, which was not a holiday, and the other time on New Year's Day. I went to Shanghai during the holidays and stayed in Nanjing for one night. Hotel prices were around 300 yuan. By comparison, for hotels of the same location and quality, Nanjing was nearly 100 yuan higher than Shanghai.
In terms of food, for example, the representative snack of Nanjing is duck blood vermicelli soup. We ate it in a "century-old restaurant". A bowl of duck blood vermicelli soup cost more than 40 yuan. I felt a bit luxurious. What about the taste? , quite satisfactory, not amazing. Breakfast in Nanjing, including beef pot stickers and vermicelli soup, costs more than 20 yuan for a casual meal. Maybe I eat too much.
Let’s look at Shanghai again. The famous scallion pancakes are 5 yuan a piece, beef noodles are 12 yuan a bowl (very generous portion), and dumplings are a little more expensive. I’ve also eaten similar ones in two cities. Snacks, generally speaking, are cheaper in Shanghai than in Nanjing. The above is my personal experience and feelings. You have to experience the level of consumption in a city before you know it. I once heard from a friend that a casual breakfast in Shanghai costs fifty or sixty yuan, which scared me so much that I almost didn’t dare to come. In fact, consumption in Shanghai is really not high, if you don’t buy a house.
Both Nanjing and Shanghai have a rich history. The style of the Republic of China is very strong. They also preserve a large number of century-old buildings. The French plane trees on the city roads are very beautiful. I will go and take a closer look if I have the opportunity in the future. However, hotels in Nanjing are really expensive. So, what do you think of consumption in Shanghai and Nanjing? Welcome to leave a message for discussion.
