Chen Gang, male, born in 1938, professor of Tourism College of Zhejiang University, member of Economic Construction Advisory Committee of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, member of Urban Planning Expert Advisory Committee of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, former dean of Tourism College of Zhejiang University (1987- 1993), head of Tourism Department,1983-. The Tourism College of Zhejiang University (formerly the Tourism College of Hangzhou University) is the first institution in China to offer a bachelor's degree in tourism and award a master's degree in tourism management.

Chen Gang received his doctorate in tourism from Belgrade University in Yugoslavia in July, 1985. He is the first doctor of tourism in China. During the three years of studying for his degree, he visited Italy, Spain, Greece, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania and other European countries.
