How much is the copyright fee?

There are two general algorithms for copyright fees:

Agreed royalties: Generally ranging from 5% to 15%, the author is paid according to the ratio of list price * number of published copies * royalties.

Buyout: A one-time payment to the author, and the income from the book has nothing to do with the author. Generally speaking, the buyout price will be relatively high, ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands.

The following are some common copyright fee ranges:

1. Text works: 100-300 yuan per 1,000 words, or 150-300 yuan per 1,000 words based on the number of pages.

2. Musical works: 300 yuan for lyrics and 200 yuan for music, and 100 yuan for each piece starting from the second registration of a series of works.

3. Drama works, acrobatic works, folk art works, dance works, fine arts works, photography works, etc.: 300 yuan per piece, and 100 yuan per piece starting from the second registered series of works.

4. Engineering design drawings, product design drawings, maps, schematics, model works, etc.: 500 yuan per piece, and 100 yuan per piece starting from the second piece in a series of works.

5. Architectural works: 1,500 yuan per piece, and 100 yuan per piece starting from the second piece in a series of works.

6. Film works: 2,000 yuan per piece, and 100 yuan per piece starting from the second piece in a series.

Copyright fees are generally collected by the copyright owner. When purchasing and using copyrighted works, you need to pay a certain amount of remuneration to the copyright owner to obtain the right to use the work. The specific copyright fee amount and payment method vary depending on the situation and need to be determined through negotiation between the two parties. In some cases, copyright fees may be paid by the user to the copyright owner, such as when movies, TV series and other entertainment programs use the work. In other cases, such as digital music platform sales, record companies and other relevant parties will receive a lower share, while the share allocated to composers and lyricists will increase. It should be noted that the distribution method of copyright fees is not fixed. Different sales forms and market demand will also have a significant impact on the share ratio of singers and creative personnel.

In summary: Copyright fees are generally agreed upon by the publisher and the copyright holder in the publishing contract. The copyright owner shall deliver the work within the time limit stipulated in the contract, and the book publisher shall publish the book in accordance with the publishing quality and time limit stipulated in the contract, and pay copyright fees.
