The screenwriter of "Love Apartment" is really awesome. He explained this theorem with a funny story. Did you know?
I really don’t know what to watch, but when I’m bored I watch “Love Apartment”.
In the third season, Zhan Bo and Wan Yu broke up. Before Wan Yu left, she wanted to dress Zhan Bo in a wedding dress, so we planned to take wedding photos for them. Taking wedding photos is full of laughter. Hu Yifei used Murphy's Law to explain this phenomenon. Unfortunately, at the time I thought this law was meant to make fun of people. Now, it turns out that this law is correct.
In order to leave a perfect memory for Zhanbo and Wanyu, Hu Yifei decided to do everything well, and the members of the apartment worked together to DIY wedding photos for them. She assigned tasks to everyone except Wanyu.
Zhanbo’s task was the simplest, which was to buy an omelette for Yifei, fry it on both sides, and then add two eggs. He did complete the task first, but there was a glitch. The omelette seller ran out of eggs, so he cracked two salted duck eggs.
When Hu Yifei saw that such a simple task was completed in this way, she said Murphy's Law: 1. Things are not as simple as they seem. Everything takes longer than you think. 3. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. 4. If you worry about something happening, it's more likely to happen. This is Murphy's Law.
Captain Murphy, an engineer at Edwards Air Force Base in the United States, participated in an experiment designed to determine the limit of human acceleration endurance-the MX981 rocket weight reduction experiment (rocket deceleration experiment) heavy weight experiment).
In one experiment, 16 sensors were installed on brackets in the subjects' seats. The sensor needs to be installed with two wires. Once the connection is reversed, the data cannot be read normally. Incredibly, when the sensors were installed, Captain Murphy discovered that all 16 sensors were connected in reverse.
Capt. Murphy said that when he designed the sensor, he never imagined that someone could put the wires back together. He quipped that if something can be done the wrong way, someone will eventually do it the wrong way. This sentence later became Murphy's Law, the most famous psychological law of the 20th century.
Since then, people have conducted further in-depth research on Murphy's Law and summarized the four points mentioned by Hu Yifei. Let’s take a look at director Hu Yifei’s wedding photos.
The task she assigned is actually very reasonable: Zhanbo is the protagonist, so the task she assigned is very simple: buy an omelet. Yoyo had already gone to the wedding dress shop, so someone asked her to pick up the wedding dress. Mika went to the restaurant so was asked to pick up the ring in case she went the wrong way and was even reminded to take a taxi. Xianxian and Guan Gu are in charge of the cameraman and lighting technician, because he is a radio host after all and has such a relationship; Lu Ziqiao is in charge of the venue because he can find the omnipotent Xiao Hei.
As a result, the omelet Zhanbo bought was not an egg; Yoyo took back the wedding dress, but there was a problem with the veil; Mika came to the restaurant as usual, but the ring was not brought back because the dog swallowed it . These three things seem simple, but they all go wrong, and that's the first rule of Murphy's Law: Nothing is as simple as it seems.
Photographer Xiaoxian had no problem finding him, but he overslept and didn’t know how long it would take. This is the second point of Murphy's Law: Everything takes longer than you expect. Guangu's lighting technician was fine and on time, but he forgot to bring lights. Here's the third point: anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
When everyone gets together, they realize that none of the things they are supposed to do are as good as they should be, and that’s the fourth rule: If you’re worried about something happening, it It's more likely to happen. Murphy's Law may seem funny, but it implies the reality of our lives.
In this world, we are not perfect, and we are not invincible. Although technology is constantly improving and technology is constantly improving, people will always make mistakes. As long as there are people involved, it is impossible to guarantee that there will be no problems in every link. The more complex the link, the more people involved, and the greater the chance of error.
In other words, the smarter we are at solving problems, the more trouble we will have - things will always go wrong, and the worst will always happen.
Let’s think about our lives. Is it the same? The more focused we are on something, the more prepared we feel, but there’s still no guarantee that things won’t go wrong. Just like omelets and veils, some things may be beyond our control.
Sometimes we often blame our spouses, children, or subordinates: How could you fail at something so simple? But when you see Murphy’s Law, you still think, is this really true? Their reasons?
Things are never as good as we think they are. Our designs are always perfect, but the actual execution is riddled with holes. So how should we deal with Murphy's Law?
There is only one way, and that is to make a careful plan in advance before doing important things. Pay attention to the details that can go wrong and nip as many pitfalls in the bud as possible.
Why do we have to have a detailed plan, even a plan A and a plan B? Just to prevent what happened to Murphy.
Yifei is a good commander. She assigns tasks and others have no plan at all and execute them in a laissez-faire manner. For example, should Sekiya remind the lighting engineer in advance? Or should Zeng Xiaoxian emphasize the schedule with the photographer. Without a careful plan, mistakes can always happen.
The ancients said: Everything must be done down to the smallest detail. Because the worst will always happen, we need to make a comprehensive plan. This is what Murphy's Law teaches us.
