Open the PowerPoint presentation and create a new blank slide.

Click the shape drop-down button in the illustration group under the Insert tab, and then select the rectangle.

Then, use the mouse to drag out a rectangle of appropriate size. To ensure that the length and width of the rectangle are equal, you need to hold down the Shitf key and drag.
