There are four common species in China, namely, Northeast Scarab, North China Scarab, Scarab, Scarab, Scarab, Scarab, which belong to COLEOPTERA, Scarab and Scarab are widely distributed, while Northeast Scarab, North China Scarab and Scarab are mainly distributed in North China. Its main distinguishing features are: the adult of the northeast big black gill beetle is 16 ~ 22 mm long, dark brown to black, shiny, with 10 tentacles and three yellow-brown or red gills. Coleoptera is leathery, hard and rectangular, with four distinct longitudinal ridges on each side. There are three teeth on the outer side of the tibioarticular segment of the forefoot and 1 tooth pitch on the inner side, all of which are sharp teeth, and there are two tooth pitches at both ends of the tibioarticular segment of the middle hind foot. The abdomen and buttocks are exposed, and the buttock backboard is semicircular to wrap the last net. The primary egg is rectangular, slightly pointed at both ends, 2 ~ 27 mm long, blue-green, gradually oval, dirty white and smooth surface. Larvae is 35 ~ 45 mm long, milky white, fat, bent into a "C" shape and wrinkled. The head is orange or yellow-brown, with three front top hairs on each side. Chest and feet 3 pairs, slender, thick brown fine hair.

There are hook-shaped bristles distributed in triangle on the ventral side of hip joint, and the anal orifice is trisected. The pupa is naked, with a body length of 2 1 ~ 23 mm, a small head and a slightly curved body, which gradually changes from yellow-white to orange-yellow, and there are 1 diagonal protrusions at the end of the caudal segment. Scarabs in North China and Northeast China are similar species. Adult scarabs are dark and dull. The three odontoid processes on the outside of the tibioarticular segment of the forefoot are blunt. Coleoptera and abdomen have short blue and white hairs. There are 1 root hairs on both sides of the larval head. The area of hook hair area on the abdomen of buttocks is smaller than that of scarab larvae in northeast China. The anus is divided into three parts. The adult of the black velvet beetle is 6 ~ 9 mm long, oval, dark brown or brown, and has a velvet feeling. Coleoptera has nine grooves. The hip plate is wide, triangular and densely carved. Chest webbed with dense fluff. There are 1 hair rows on the webbed web of each abdomen. There are two teeth on the outer edge of the tibial joint segment of the forefoot. The larval body length is 14 ~ 16 mm, and there are 1 root hairs on both sides of the top hair in front of the head, 1 root hairs on both sides of the middle forehead, and there is no front hair on the forehead. The back of the anorectal piece is covered with slightly curved spines. The front edge of Mao Qun is bimodal, and the exposed area is wedge-shaped and points to the tail end, which divides hirsutism into two parts. The bristle row is located at the rear edge of the hair area, arranged in a transverse arc, and consists of 16 ~ 22 conical spines with obvious interruption in the middle. The carapace and COLEOPTERA of adult scarab are copper-green and shiny. The anal foramen of the larval buttock is transversely cracked, and there are two long rows of needle-like bristles in the center of the hook hair area on the ventral surface.
