The liquid crystal itself has no color, and the light will show a color image after passing through different color filters. Part of the screen frame is used to reserve a position for the driver IC. The so-called big black edge, that is, black matrix, is because the liquid crystal in the screen has certain fluidity, and the border glue in BM area is to prevent the liquid crystal on the screen from being exposed, and also to ensure that the screen will not leak light. In recent years, people often say "no borders", that is, mobile phone manufacturers and screen factories are constantly moving forward on the road of eliminating left and right borders and black borders.

But different from the clear definition of borderless, there are two main answers on the internet: the technical party and the experience party. Some experience parties believe that as long as there is a high screen ratio, it can be called a full screen. Regardless of the technical differences between your internal structure and screen packaging, appearance is king, and face value is justice.

The other is the so-called "technical party", which mainly judges the structure of the screen and defines the full screen according to the screen packaging method. Here, I'd like to introduce the difference between full-screen and structural packaging.

In the traditional mobile phone, in addition to the exposed display area, a part of the driving IC and the screen line are extended, which are usually arranged at the "chin" of the fuselage. This length is about 4mm, plus the fingerprint identification module, so the "chin" of the general mobile phone has become a common appearance. At the top of the fuselage, the front camera, earpiece and various sensors are generally placed in the "forehead" part. But in fact, these parts don't occupy too much space, just for the beauty of ID design, the height of "forehead" and "chin" is made symmetrical. Knowing this technology, it is not difficult to understand why many netizens don't buy some so-called "full-screen" mobile phones recently exposed, and even call them "0.75" generation full-screen phones. This kind of product adopts the traditional COG packaging technology, and only the fingerprint identification module is placed at the back of the fuselage, so it only needs to leave a relatively narrow area for placing the screen wire and the driving IC, and then the forehead and chin are symmetrical, and the middle screen area is lengthened from the previous 16:9 to 17:9. Plus the shortened top and bottom, it seems that the screen ratio is higher. The reason why such a product is called a full screen is because the resolution has changed compared with the traditional 16:9, and the screen manufacturers call such a screen a "full screen". The "full screen" here is the general name of this kind of screen, which has nothing to do with any other factors (screen ratio, packaging process). Everyone is dissatisfied with this because although the screen ratio seems to be higher, it is only achieved by stretching the screen ratio, and the technology of the screen itself has not been substantially improved. For some aspiring manufacturers, the screen packaging technology is further improved. The driving IC under the screen is packaged on the flexible printed circuit board, which can be folded to the other side of the screen, and a gap of about 1- 1.5 mm can be left. This packaging technology is called COF(Chip on Flex). This packaging process is our protagonist Xiaomi MIX2 today. The final form of alien full screen is the long-rumored "iPhoneX" on the Internet. Compared with the traditional full screen, the advantage of special-shaped full screen is that it has the opportunity to make the most ideal full screen effect in everyone's mind through technology. The difficulty lies in the irregular shape transformation of the screen part, so the glass cutting process is very demanding. Is there any improvement in Xiaomi MIX's criticized call problem?

The comprehensive screen design adopted by Xiaomi MIX breaks through the traditional mobile phone hardware design scheme and leads Xiaomi to re-create a new solution.
