Characteristics of works

Yu Qian's works show the characteristics of social anthropology. She takes care of the characters in her works from a female perspective and has an understanding and tolerance of reality. She used her experiences in Tibet to construct her own novels, which are real and rich in texture. As she said, "I'm just telling a story, no different from other writers' writing." My purpose is to tell the conflict between traditional Tibetan women and modern women in values and lifestyles, praise the beauty of women, and on the other hand show some strange and out-of-control phenomena in the process of Tibet's changes. I think I am more real in expressing the interaction between traditional women and modern women in Tibet over the years. "

The stories of Yu Qian's works all come from life. For example, in the most famous Tibetan marriage, the protagonists are actually her close friends. Haohao in Tibetan marriage is her best friend in real life. We have known each other for sixteen years. She participated in almost all the stories that the hero experienced in the book. "Tibetan Marriage" is her work combining the stories of two families. There is also "Life and Death in Tibet", in which the hero Gonza is a good friend of her husband and often goes to her house. He told his story and was remembered by Yu Qian. Yu Qian said: "My heart is like a story box. The story in the box is like crystal pearls. When they accumulate more, they are connected in series with beautiful silk threads. "

Personal point of view

Many times I don't feel like a writer.

Because my thinking is not that kind of unconstrained style, I like to write chapter after chapter. I will have a plan in my heart, what to say in a chapter and how many words I want. And most of what I write comes from stories around me, so it is definitely impossible for me to make up stories. So I think I'm a storyteller at best.
