Requirements for Character Animation Portfolio (Undergraduate)

The character animation program supports animation that focuses on character development and narrative stories. The College Admissions Committee seeks to demonstrate a strong and creative portfolio of life painting skills, artistic creativity and potential to tell stories and develop roles using sequential images. The Committee attaches importance to artistic works that show unique and imaginative voices, and shows the applicant's artistic interest and conceptual ability. We welcome a series of creative work, including painting and other traditional works of art, 2D digital art and computer graphics (CG). Please read the specific portfolio requirements listed below carefully.

The role animation project is a four-year project. All students start at the level of BFA 1 (freshman) because the courses are very sequential. Please review our credit transfer policy for transfer students. Transfer may reduce the burden of academic courses for students, but they will not shorten their residence time.

Character animation mainly focuses on character development and narrative stories. The College Admissions Committee expects the collected works to have strong creativity, creative painting skills and artistic creativity, and expects that the collection of works can present stories in a series of pictures and enrich the development role. The Admissions Committee appreciates and attaches importance to unique and imaginative works to show the applicant's artistic interest and conceptual ability.

Welcome all creative works, including paintings, other traditional works and 2D and CG technical works.

The academic system of character animation major is 4 years. According to the highly orderly curriculum, all students (freshmen) attend classes from the first year of their freshman year. Please read the transfer policy carefully. The academic burden of transfer students will be slightly lighter, but it will not shorten the school time.

Part 1: observing artworks (at least 15 in total)

These observation paintings should range from short posture length (posture painting) to long posture length, and should show the face, hands and feet of the model. It's best to draw nude models, but you can also draw clothes. Applicants for character animation projects must have experience in working with real models, preferably at least one year's experience in studying character/real painting.

Submit a portfolio online

Online collections (artist's statements, observation paintings, personal works and video articles) should be uploaded to the slide room.

SlideRoom accepts MP3, documents, images and videos. You can scan or photograph your drawings and submit them digitally.

Please submit a picture of each slide in the slide room. Do not merge multiple images into a single PDF document. Don't include a title on the image. If appropriate, a title should be added to the designated title section of the slide room.

Once your portfolio is uploaded, it can be viewed and rearranged until it is finally submitted. After your portfolio is finally submitted, no changes can be made. You need to pay for each portfolio you submit through the online system. Please be sure to submit your portfolio to the correct degree level and procedures.

SlideRoom accepts MP3, documents, pictures and videos. You can scan or take photos to upload your paintings.

One picture per slide. Don't combine multiple pictures into one PDF. Does not include the picture title. If possible, the title should be added to the designated part of the slide.

After submitting the portfolio, you can view and rearrange it before the final submission. It cannot be modified after the final submission date. There is a fee for each successfully submitted portfolio. Make sure that your portfolio is submitted to the correct degree and major.
