Why do professional cameras still use tape?

The main points are as follows: 1. Tape records need not be compressed, but hard disk and memory card records need to be compressed. Due to the limitation of camera size, the performance of video compression hardware, especially high-definition video compression hardware, can not reach the performance of special video acquisition (compression) equipment under the current technical conditions. Therefore, after the video recorded by tape is collected by professional video acquisition (compression) equipment, its video clarity is much clearer than that recorded directly on the memory card by camera compression.

Second, the reliability of tape recording is better than that of memory card. Even if the video recorded on the tape is damaged by collision, as long as the tape still exists, all or part of the video recorded on the tape can be collected (and professional machines basically use metal tapes). However, if the video recorded by the memory card is damaged due to collision or use (because it is an electronic chip, it is common to damage microcircuits and chips in use), it is difficult or even impossible to copy the video stored in the card.

Therefore, professional machines are still using tapes in order to shoot videos clearly and safely. With the further development of technology, professional machines will not use magnetic tape in the near future.
