How does Canon ixus 960IS set the scene mode? How to achieve the best night shooting effect?

First, select SCN on the mode panel, then press FUNC, use the up and down keys to find a logo of a lady's head, and then you can select the scene mode left and right.

The most important thing to shoot at night is stability, and if you don't shoot people, turn off the flash.

Matters needing attention in night photography

1, to prevent the camera from moving.

When shooting at night, the camera should be screwed on a tripod or placed in a stable and firm place, so as not to touch the fuselage. Otherwise, ghosting will appear, which will lead to shooting failure.

2, the use of aperture

Generally speaking, except for special needs, we all like to use a smaller aperture value (about F8 to 1 1) to increase the exposure time. Smaller aperture can make the distant view and the close view equally clear and detailed, especially the neon signs in the shop window can be clearly displayed, otherwise the neon signs will form a mass of light and look blurred. Interestingly, as long as the exposure time is long enough, pedestrians on the road will not appear in the photo (because the crowd is moving, the figure of people will become inconspicuous after long exposure), while cars driving on the road will form the shadow of lights (aperture value F7, exposure time 12 seconds, ISO value 160). If you want to focus on the crowd in the night scene, you have to use a larger aperture (F5.6 or so, which will blur the background) or use high sensitivity (ISO) to improve the shutter speed.

3. Determination of distance

The shooting distance should be measured as accurately as possible, otherwise it will directly affect the clarity of the scene. Generally speaking, when shooting a big scene at night, the distance can be placed at infinity. If you take a shot or close-up, you should focus on it. The clearer the focus, the better. The focus should be fixed on the position of the subject or the main part of the scene, and then measured after being illuminated by a flashlight. You can also use bright spots near the subject instead of measurement. Once the distance is determined, it cannot be changed at will during shooting.
