Area exposure method

Purpose of area exposure: By controlling exposure and contrast, all tones in the picture can be accurately controlled.

The color tone in the photo is not an objective and true response, but the result of subjective control.

The tone of the photo is divided into ten areas from the blackest to the whitest, and the brightness of each area is twice.

As shown above, this is a gray scale, the darkest on the left and the whitest on the right.

The middle is medium gray, and the histogram of Canon camera is similar to the above picture, which is divided into five levels.

In the digital age, the contrast option of the camera is controlled to compress the latter and expand the tone, thus subjectively controlling the tone of the picture.

The above is the ideal state.

So if

The actual brightness distance is greater than the required hue relation: the contrast is reduced.

The actual brightness distance is less than the expected hue relation: contrast.

When the addition and subtraction contrast still cannot meet the requirements of each part: later adjustment.
