How to shoot a sense of fantasy when shooting photography?

The word "shot shot" comes from Japan, the so-called completely defocused part of the image, which is used as the original background. Now, before celebrating the New Year and Christmas, we will use lens photography to create pictures in the special festive New Year atmosphere. In this article, you will learn how to use simple tools to create fantasy photos with scattered textures. By changing the aperture and using homemade lens accessories, you will get beautiful holiday photos.

First, get everything you need to shoot the Christmas scene.

Draw the shape of the nozzle

Put the lens cover on a thick piece of black paper and circle it with a light pencil. Now, we need to find the center and mark the future aperture diameter. It can be identified by dividing the focal length of the lens by the aperture value. The lens diameter is 50 mm, and the aperture value is f/ 1.4 when shooting. We divide 50 mm by 1.4, and the diameter of the cardboard hole is 35 mm

Cut a small hole in the Christmas tree.

After finding the center of the circle and determining the diameter of the hole, carefully draw a small but not too complicated shape around it (here is the Christmas tree). Take a sharp knife (scalpel or similar tool) and carefully trim the painted Christmas tree from the inside. Be careful not to tear this paper. The smoother and clearer the shape, the better the texture will look.

Remove excess light.

You should take photos in a room with curtains or shutters closed, because the light that produces the shooting texture in the dark will be brighter. If the curtain is not dense enough, you need to hang it on the window with other things (towels, bedspreads) to prevent excess light from passing through.

Create the background of the Christmas wreath

When shooting, you need to choose the simplest background. We will prepare a light source that can produce a lens. The more point light sources, the better the background of the scattering scene. In our example, this is a Christmas wreath. The light bulb should not be too far away, but it should not be too close. To create a festive atmosphere, please hang a wreath on the small Christmas tree.

Useful tip: If you use autofocus (AF mode), you can focus on the subject in the foreground first, and then switch to MF mode to maximize the sharpness so as to sharpen it more accurately.

Second, customization and shooting.

Choose the best position for the subject.

Choose the best position for the objects in the foreground and background (in our example, this is a Christmas tree toy and a garland lamp). The greater the distance between them, the more blurred the effect of the light.

Use a tripod

Install the camera on a tripod to avoid unnecessary camera movement during shooting. Please set the selfie timer to 2 seconds. Hold the foreground object by hand (although it can be fixed in advance).

Foreground lighting

It is necessary to ignite the foreground object so that contrast and necessary glare appear on it. For this purpose, small light sources (flashlights, small lights) can be used. In our example, the diffuser is installed in front of the lamp of the lighting toy.

Set aperture value

Sets the maximum possible aperture value of the lens. In this example, the aperture priority mode (Av) is used for shooting, and the aperture value is f/ 1.4. In any case, the best value is chosen according to experience.

Finally, shoot.

You can stick a cut piece of paper on the lens, but it's best to fix it with tape or rubber band. Everything is ready. Focus on foreground objects and take unique photos.
