Significance of the construction of Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge

Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge will give full play to its role as a node connecting Yichang's "domestic and foreign" three-level expressway network, and truly form a fast loop line between Yichang and the Yangtze River. The bridge is an important strategic project to replace the highway at the top of Gezhouba dam and ensure the safe operation of the Three Gorges Project, and it belongs to the follow-up supporting project of the Three Gorges Project. It is of great significance to ensure the safety of the Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam, which is also known as the "anti-terrorism bridge".

On May 5th this year, the Dajiang Bridge of Xi Zhi Yangtze River Bridge was closed. With the closure of Sanjiang Bridge and the comprehensive completion of the main bridge of Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, a series of auxiliary bridge deck projects will be launched one after another. This suspension bridge with composite steel plates, the second in the world after the Yingwuzhou Yangtze River Bridge, has taken another solid step towards the goal of being fully opened to traffic in May next year.
