How to use infrared filter in digital camera? Right in front of the camera?

To see whether a machine can use an infrared filter, we must first look at the characteristics of its photosensitive elements. Simply talking about how to use infrared filters is not rigorous! Because you didn't consider the difference between machines.

So what characteristics of the photosensitive element, CCD or CMOS, will affect the results of infrared photography?

First of all, the most important factor is a layer of "cut-off lens" attached to CCD or CMOS, which is scientifically called ICF filter. The function of this ICF cutoff lens is to block the infrared rays in the light. Only in this way can our photos be the same as those seen by the naked eye, because CCD or CMOS is different from our eyes, and CCD or CMOS can recognize infrared rays.

Secondly, the more advanced the modern digital camera is, the stronger the ability of its ICF cutoff lens to block infrared rays. In other words, the less suitable it is as an infrared photography machine, because infrared rays are blocked by this ICF cutoff lens, so why take infrared photography? Machines suitable for infrared photography with infrared filters are relatively backward in technology.

Thirdly, the function of infrared filter is to separate the light entering the lens, let the infrared enter smoothly and increase the entrance. Moreover, there are many kinds of infrared filters, which are divided according to different infrared wavelengths, and the effect is that the incoming infrared intensity is different. Generally, infrared filters with wavelengths above 760 nm have strong infrared rays, and the imaging effect is black and white. The disadvantage is that the exposure time needs to be longer. The infrared filter with the wavelength below 760 nm has few infrared rays, and the imaging effect is fantastic in color and amazing in effect. The advantage is that the exposure time is very short.

In fact, if you really want to play infrared photography, the best and most thorough way is to remove the ICF filter and then take infrared photography with the infrared filter. Of course, although this is thorough, it must have enough technology. Not recommended, or the machine will be scrapped.
