How can Canon S2IS be set under the stage lighting to capture dancers clearly?

In this case, only M manual mode can be used.

Point out a few obvious mistakes for you first:

1

Tv can't use Av.

Av is aperture priority. Even if you adjust the aperture to the maximum F2.7 (and the telephoto can't reach 2.7), the shutter speed is automatically matched by the system. This value must be more than 0.5 seconds, so it is impossible to capture the dancing action. In TV mode, if the shutter is set to 30 or above (because 1/30 seconds is the bottom line for people not to shake), the system will inevitably open the aperture to the maximum, at least to ensure the exposure time and the picture will not be empty.

2

ISO cannot use Auto or 50.

This is the biggest mistake. ISO is sensitivity. The larger the value, the stronger the ability to capture light. In this poor light condition, if you adjust the sensitivity to the lowest ... %-# S2, and the ISO is up to 400, you should adjust it to 200 or 300. 400 is too high and the noise is too loud, so you can't see your face clearly.

Correct method:

1

Set it to M manual mode, the shutter is above 30, and the aperture is opened to the maximum, that is, 2.7,300.

2

Turn on the flash and adjust the output of the flash to the first frame (the flash will not be so bright and the background will not be too dark), but forget it if it is too far from the stage, and the flash will not hit.

three

Image stabilization mode is always on, single autofocus (complex light, power saving)
