Tokyo institute of technology is one of the few Japanese universities offering photography education.

Tokyo institute of technology (とぅきょぅこぅげぃだぃがくく, tokyo institute of technology) is referred to as "Oriental Science and Technology" for short, and its headquarters is located in Tokyo, Japan. It is the oldest photography school in Asia and one of the most authoritative schools in Japan.

It was founded in 1923 by the 7th president of Liu Xiaoxi Photography Industry (now Konica Minolta). 1966 was renamed Tokyo University of Photography to provide university education, and 1977 was renamed tokyo institute of technology. Tokyo institute of technology is one of the few Japanese universities offering photography education. It has trained famous photographers, such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Kobayashi Qing Ji.

Tokyo institute of technology has art colleges (photography, video, design, media artistic expression, animation, comics, games) and engineering colleges. The graduate school has an art research department and an engineering research department.

Historical evolution:

1923, xiaoxi photo studio was established [now shibuya, Tokyo]. 1962, the photo development department was added. 1926, renamed Tokyo Photography School. 1944 was renamed Tokyo Institute of Photography Industry. 1966, Tokyo University of Photography was established, offering engineering courses (photographic engineering and printing engineering). The former Tokyo Photography Short-term University was changed to the short-term undergraduate department of Tokyo Photography University. 1967, the photo industry department of short-term undergraduate course was renamed as the photo application department.

1973, the engineering department added industrialization topic. 1974 Architecture discipline was added to the Engineering Department. 1976, the printing discipline of the Ministry of Engineering was renamed as portrait discipline, the electronic discipline was added to the Ministry of Engineering, and the short-term undergraduate photo printing discipline was renamed as portrait discipline. 1977 was renamed tokyo institute of technology, and the short-term undergraduate department of Tokyo University of Photography was renamed tokyo institute of technology short-term undergraduate department 1950. According to the new academic system, Tokyo Photography Short-Term University (Department of Photography Technology and Department of Photography Industry) [Nakano District, Tokyo] was established.
