I'm a little lost how to shoot beautiful water droplets with a digital camera.

Although the water droplets or splashing foam disappeared after the rain, they can still be photographed with a camera and become works with visual impact.

camera

You don't need a very advanced professional camera to shoot splashing water droplets. The shooting environment and equipment can be easily realized by any ordinary person. Generally speaking, as long as the shutter speed of the camera can be above 1/500 seconds, and it is equipped with a mandatory flash, no matter whether it is a high-end SLR camera or the most common small fixed-focus camera, it can take very good photos of water droplets under the condition of reasonable application of ambient light and correct focus. It can be said that the camera that takes good photos only accounts for 30% of the total factors, and the other 30% are environmental problems and shooting angles. The most important thing is the person who holds the camera.

environment

In fact, you don't need any professional studio and special lighting effects to shoot crystal clear water droplets. Many times, many photographers who like to shoot water droplets shoot in their own homes. As long as the lights are not too dim, ordinary incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps are completely enough.

tool

Seeing the glittering and translucent and colorful world of water droplets, many people will think that all kinds of special tools are necessary to shoot this effect. In fact, the easiest way to shoot this world of water droplets is to use a faucet and a plastic basin with a specific color or a transparent glass basin. For example, if you want to shoot blue water droplets, you can find a blue plastic basin to shoot. Of course, if the glass basin is lined with golden paper, naturally, the color of the water droplets will turn golden. Like the color in Figure 2, it is either red or green, which is the effect made by two ordinary landscape posters at the bottom of the basin. Of course, if you want to make the color look more gorgeous and eye-catching, you can add monochrome or mixed color pigments to the water.

Focal length and object distance

When shooting micro-world things such as water droplets, although ordinary fixed-focus cameras can barely shoot, it is best to use a zoom lens in macro focus mode, which can be done by most digital cameras on the market at present. In terms of focal length, try to keep the lens in the middle focus position. If the focus mode has manual M-shift, it is best to focus by manual shift to keep the image clear and delicate. As for the shooting distance between the lens and the water drop, as long as the lens can focus clearly, the water will not splash on the lens and be as close as possible to the water drop. Generally speaking, the object distance between the camera and the water drop is about 10 cm. In order to ensure the safety of camera lens, it is best to add anti-ultraviolet lens to the camera.

hole

If possible, we can try to use a small aperture, because a small aperture will give us a greater depth of field and make the jumping water droplets clearer and more delicate. Generally speaking, the aperture can be set around F6. I also used the aperture of F 1 1 on Fuji's S602zoom, and the visual impact was quite good. Of course, if the camera itself is rich in functions and has aperture priority mode, it is best to adjust the camera to this mode.

shutter

Jumping water droplets change shape and fall way very quickly. A water drop with a diameter of 0.2 mm will bounce again when it touches the water surface for less than11000 seconds. If we want to photograph the moment when it falls or bounces, and the world reflected in the water drops, we need to set the shutter speed very high. Take Fuji's S602zoom as an example, its fastest shutter speed reaches110000 seconds, which is very suitable for capturing such fleeting shots. Of course, if the shutter speed is above 1/500 seconds, you can shoot, but it is not easy to capture water droplets that move too fast.

Flash and white balance

Photography is the art of light and shadow. When shooting such a close object, when using a high shutter speed, there must be a flash to replenish water droplets, but a professional flash is not needed to shoot water droplets. Generally speaking, the machine's own flash is enough. When setting, just set the flash mode to forced flash. In the aspect of white balance, in order to increase the visual impact, the photographer can set the color temperature as high as possible to make the image more intense.

tripod

Although the shutter speed is very fast, it is easy to take pictures if the camera is unstable. In order to maintain stability, I suggest that the camera be fixed with a tripod when shooting.

skill

After setting the camera parameters and shooting environment, you can shoot on the spot. However, it is very important to control the dripping speed and continuity of the faucet. Generally speaking, it is best to adjust the continuity of water droplets to the best point. Of course, if you want to shoot other different effects, such as blisters or ripples on the water surface caused by slow water flow, you can turn up the water appropriately. However, if you want the water droplets to leave multiple swirls on a water surface, you can drop the water droplets into the basin by moving the plastic eye drops bottle, which can leave a special picture. As for the control of exposure, the exposure effect is completely controlled by the flash intensity of the flash, and the flash intensity of each camera is different. To get the best exposure, it is best to use exposure compensation to control. In actual shooting, the photographer can try several times more and control according to his own needs. At the same time, in order to reflect their creative intention and special perspective, photographers can try to shoot from several angles, leaving different lights and beautiful water droplets from all angles.

Last but not least, if you shoot with a plastic basin or a glass basin, you must wash the basin before shooting, and then shoot. Only in this way can crystal clear water drops be displayed. At the same time, it should be noted that shooting water droplets, especially water droplets, may fail many times. Sometimes, you may not capture the wonderful moment, maybe the water drops early, the shutter is late, and so on. At this time, if your digital camera has the continuous shooting function, you can try to use the continuous shooting function to improve the success rate. At the same time, you must learn to wait and catch the shutter.

Shooting method of goldfish

A, choose a good shooting container-generally choose a thin-walled glass tube (3 cm is enough, thick will produce reflection distortion), with as few scratches as possible. Before shooting, gently wipe the cylinder wall with alcohol to wipe off the dirt.

B, choose a good background (you can choose the background for the subject, you can find it above)

C, choose posture-choose different shooting angles according to different goldfish, and imagine the goldfish as a cuboid. Observe carefully and choose the most beautiful side of goldfish.

D. When using the flash, pay attention to the reflection of the glass, which will affect the main body of the picture. There is no polarizer to adjust the camera angle to avoid reflection. If an off-board flash is used, the position of the flash can be moved. When shooting, choose to love the fish at a certain distance from the cylinder wall, because the automatic focusing of the camera is not omnipotent. When the fish fails to focus, it is likely that the focus will fall on the cylinder wall. The flash will leave a large piece of reflected light on the cylinder wall, and scratches and dirt on the cylinder wall will be highlighted. In addition, pay attention to turn on the red-eye prevention option of the flash.

E, avoid goldfish appear yin and yang face-use flash when shooting outdoors, one side of goldfish will be very bright, and the other side will be very dark. You can use sunlight to illuminate each other and adjust the shooting distance to avoid: when shooting indoors with a flash, you can adjust the shooting distance without flashing, and use white paper to reflect light and illuminate each other.
