Brief Introduction to the Author of Photogrammetry Principle

Wang (1909 ~ 2002), a native of Hebei province, is the founder of photogrammetry and remote sensing in China, one of the pioneers of surveying and mapping in contemporary China, and a senior academician of China Academy of Sciences. 1932 graduated from the Department of Soil Science of Shanghai Jiaotong University, 1934 went to study in the UK, and 1939 received a doctorate in engineering from the Technical University of Berlin. He is the first aerial survey expert in China to receive a doctorate. 1939 After returning to China, he successively served as professor of Sun Yat-sen University, associate researcher of China Institute of Geography, director of land survey technology office, dean of engineering college of Shanghai Jiaotong University, president of Shanghai Jiaotong University, vice president of Wuhan Institute of Surveying and Mapping, first-class professor, doctoral supervisor, honorary president of Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping, member of the first engineering evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degree Committee and member of Surveying and Mapping Professional Group of State Science and Technology Commission. Vice Chairman, Chairman, Honorary Chairman and Honorary Member of China Surveying and Mapping Society, Honorary Chairman of Hubei Surveying and Mapping Society, Chairman of Hubei Remote Sensing Center, Deputy to the 3rd, 5th and 6th National People's Congress, Vice Chairman of the 4th CPPCC of Hubei Province, Standing Committee of the 5th, 6th and 7th CPPCC, and Deputy Director of the 6th, 7th and 8th Standing Committee of Hubei Province. His main works are Principles of Photogrammetry, Continuation of Principles of Photogrammetry, Principles of Photogrammetry (with Remote Sensing) (English version), Aerial Photogrammetry (co-authored with Xia), Geodesy (co-authored with Xia) and so on.
