Composition of Visiting Beijing Hutong

There are many hutongs in Beijing. I have long heard that there are three or six thousand famous hutongs in Beijing, and there are a lot of nameless hutongs.

The imaginary hutong in Beijing is quiet, neat, harmonious and serene. Entering the Hutong District, sitting on the human tricycles, with the ringing bell, shuttling through the neat quadrangles, there is no such feeling.

The trip to Beijing Hutong started from Xie Jie, Dai Yan, the earliest hutong in Beijing. In addition to the ancient skinny, covered with muddy green slate, the houses on both sides simply can't see the vicissitudes of time. Although the house tries to keep its antique style, it looks particularly awkward. Houses and shops are mixed together, and buzzing flies abuse garbage in the corner.

After passing the tobacco pouch, I entered the Hutong District and slowly recovered a little feeling. The afternoon sun shone on several sparse poplar trees in the alley, leaking through the gaps in the leaves and forming mottled light and shadow on the ground. Birds and cicadas don't seem to have the heart to break this silence and remain silent. Away from the downtown hutong, there is a kind of tranquility, as if out of the city. There is no map, only that all hutongs are "breathable", so I don't care so much, just walk around. Because of this, the trip to Hutong is full of surprises and fun.

Hutongs in Beijing are different in width, wide and bright, narrow and deep. The narrowest hutong is Qianshi Hutong, which is only 40 cm at its narrowest point and can only accommodate a slim person. Most hutongs in Beijing only come and go, but there are also twists and turns. There is an alley called Jiudaowan, with more than 20 bays. All the hutongs we have been to have a quiet and quaint atmosphere and are prosperous. The ground of some hutongs is paved with blue bricks or stones, square and square, like a squashed tofu block. It's cool to step on it barefoot. Some stone slabs on the roadside are covered with moss, which is particularly old and full of traces of time.

Hutong at night is even more delicious. As the sun sets, the last glow of the horizon shines on the quadrangles of every household. People have moved out of rattan chairs and taken cattail fans to the hutongs to enjoy the cool. The old people are chatting and the children are frolicking, which really smells like a small bridge flowing with water.

Although Beijing Hutong has experienced ups and downs for hundreds of years, when we walk out of Hutong, many Beijingers can't help but sigh that the beauty of Beijing lies in Hutong.
