Strategic choice scheme of SLR camera

Canon and Nikon are strategic choices, and Canon is better now.

From the imaging point of view, all photos should be P, so there is no difference in the final product.

Lens, high-end or Canon is cheap, although Nikon is cheap, but because Nikon's bayonet diameter is too small, you can use a lot less lenses than Canon, and Canon's fuselage can be replaced by Nikon's lens, not the other way around. There are also lens adapters such as Leica /R-EOS Hasselblad-EOS DKL-EOS M42-EOS Contax/Yasica-EOS Mamiya 645-EOS Pentax 67-EOS, which Nikon does not have.

Because it is a strategic consideration, we will not talk about the specific vehicle configuration.

The following is the paste: Note: Mr. Tetsuro Goto is the director of Nikon Japan R&D laboratory.

"About Nikon sensors.

Nikon used to design and use its own sensors (such as JFET technology LBCAST on D2H). Will new sensors be designed in the future?

Mr. Tetsuro Goto: The sensor of Nikon D3S was designed by Nikon.

Digital Focus: Is this 100% designed for Nikon D3S?

Mr. Tetsuro Goto: The design is available, but it is made by another company.

Data Focus: How many sensors used by Nikon are designed and manufactured by Sony?

Tetsuro Goto: We have a long-term cooperative relationship with Sony. Nikon designed D3S, D3 and D700 sensors, and Nikon D3X and other small sensors and APS-C sensors came from Sony. We want to use our own sensor on the popular (editor's note: APS-C sensor) machine, because our sensor performance is superior. But it will take some time, because it must reach scale to be cost-effective. Sony is a big company that sells sensors to many camera manufacturers. For example, Sony sensors are used in alpha cameras, and our D3000 and D5000 also use Sony sensors. Our D300 uses the basic Sony sensor and has the same index, but there are many differences between them because we have made many changes.

Canon recently set a record with EOS 7D, with 6.5438+0.8 million pixels. In contrast, Nikon's12 million pixels are eclipsed, and we sometimes lose some important things such as sensitivity or dynamic range when expanding pixels.

Digital Focus: Can you imagine that the updated D90 product will use Sony's14 megapixel sensor?

Tetsuro Goto: I cannot answer such a direct question. The updated products of D90 and D300 must be able to compete with Canon 7D. It's small, the viewfinder is good and it's fast. Sensors are not the only factor.

Some people want Nikon to develop a medium-sized camera, because the image quality is very important, but this market is very small. You know, some users of mid-range cameras choose D3X because D3X is easier to use, cheaper, and has image quality. Mid-range cameras are heavier and need bigger and heavier lenses. In addition, we lack experience in this medium-sized market, although Nikon has made some medium-sized lenses. Simply put, Nikon can't develop this market. Nikon is not as rich as you think. You and Fujitsu jointly develop firmware for your camera? Why and how to achieve it?

Mr. Tetsuro Goto: Ah, that's a good idea! We have studied this aspect, and you will know it soon. At present, the picture quality of the best small digital (card) camera is not as good as that of the cheapest SLR camera, and the gap is really quite big. We hope to reduce this difference. "

It seems that Nikon is still very conservative and doesn't want to take the lead in medium format, and CMOS is no match for Canon at present. I have always believed that Canon's real opponent is Sony, not Nikon now.

To sum up, under the current circumstances, it is obvious that Canon is the right choice.
