1. Write a tour guide based on Urumqi’s Red Mountain

Towering above the city center, the Hongshan Mountain has abrupt rocks and extraordinary momentum.

Every morning and dusk, the rock walls reflect the red light of the sun, hence the name. The mountain runs east-west and the main peak is 1,391 meters above sea level.

Because the top of the mountain looks like a tiger and the cliffs are red in color, it is also called "Hutoushan" and "Hongshanzui". Red Mountain confronts Yamalik Mountain (commonly known as Demon Mountain) which is less than a kilometer away.

At the foot of the mountain, the Urumqi River runs from north to south. Legend has it that Hongshan is a giant red dragon that flew from the Tianchi Lake and turned into a rock when it landed, but it still climbed restlessly and slowly towards Yamalik Mountain. If the two mountains were to close together, the Urumqi River would be blocked and the city would be destroyed. Turn into a vast country.

Therefore, in 1788, a superstitious Manchu local official in Shang'an, the capital of Urumqi, ordered the construction of a nine-level blue brick "dragon treasure" on each of the two "giant dragons". Among them, the tower on the top of Hongshan Mountain still exists today, while the tower on the top of Yamalik Mountain was blown down by strong winds more than 20 years ago and was only restored in recent years.

Now Red Mountain and its two mountain towers have become one of the scenic spots in the city. After years of afforestation and greening, Hongshan has been turned into "Hongshan Park", with red pavilions, green trees, green pagodas and red rocks, which is unique.

In recent years, a stone sculpture of Lin Zexu, a national hero from the Qing Dynasty, and a group of sculptures commemorating the greening of Hongshan have been built, adding youthful charm to the ancient Hongshan. Climbing to the "View Tower" on the top of Hongshan Mountain, you can have a panoramic view of the border town.

Red Mountain has become a symbol of Urumqi. 2. The legend of Hongshan Pagoda in Urumqi

First of all, we must start with the Urumqi River. Urumqi Junggar Mongolian: beautiful pasture. It plays an important role on the Silk Road. On the Silk Road leading to Central Asia, West Asia and Europe, most of the items transported are porcelain, tea, jade, silk and other large and heavy items. The Urumqi River acted as a blockage. Some merchants were unable to cross the river due to the rise and fall of the river, so some goods were sold on the spot. Visited the markets on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. This is where the prototype of the city of Urumqi began. Historically, the Urumqi River often overflowed and caused disasters. It was used to "lock mountains and lock water." Floods occurred for two consecutive years in the fifty-third year of Qianlong's reign (1788). Local superstitious Manchu officials said that Hongshan and Yamalik Mountains were Legend has it that it was the incarnation of a giant dragon that soared out of the Tianchi. Because this dragon often stirred up the river water and caused flooding, the Queen Mother of the West pulled out a jade hairpin and threw it, and immediately turned it into a sword and cut the dragon's body into two pieces. turned into two mountains. And this giant dragon did not die, but looked for an opportunity to merge. So the river flooded. At this time, Shang An, the governor of Urumqi, listened to the officials' words. Then he ordered to build a nine-level solid blue brick "Dragon Zhenlong Pagoda" on the heads of these two "giant dragons". The tower is 10.5 meters high and is an octagonal pavilion-style nine-level gray solid brick pagoda. The layers are retracted layer by layer, and the crown of the tower is an octagonal crown. The pagoda on Yamalik Mountain collapsed in a strong wind in 1946 due to disrepair. It is now a rebuilt pagoda. The Hongshan Town Dragon Pagoda has survived more than 200 years of ups and downs and has become the soul of Hongshan, adding to its mystery.

Historically, the top of Hongshan Mountain was also a place for sacrificial ceremonies. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1799), a Jade Emperor Temple was built. The North Temple has majestic buildings and terracotta chalk walls, and is also known as " "Hongmiaozi" is widely spread among the people. There are also the Great Buddha Temple, Beidou Palace and Ksitigarbha Palace under the mountain peak. Later, due to the war, the Jade Emperor Temple and others were destroyed by the war.

After years of greening, Hongshan has recently built a stone sculpture of Lin Zexu, a national hero of the Qing Dynasty, and a group of sculptures to commemorate the greening of Hongshan. It has also built a "viewing tower" and some service facilities, opening up It is called "Red Mountain Park".

Red Mountain is the symbol of Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang.

As we walked forward, the tulips, bougainvilleas, cannas, and lilacs on the slopes were all dazzling and fragrant, as if they were welcoming tourists from afar.

Guess where these animals are found? I'd better tell you! These favorite animal friends live in the Hongshan Forest Zoo.

The penguin pavilion of Hongshan Forest Zoo is home to six cute and clumsy little penguins. Their backs are black, their bellies are snow-white, and they waddle when they walk, like a roly-poly.

Sometimes they frolic and play in the sea, and sometimes they take a leisurely walk on the shore. There are many kinds of birds in the bird park, including red-billed blue magpie, myna, munia, lovebirds, and colorful-faced noisy eyebrows. They chirp and sing to welcome tourists.

There are three giraffes living in the giraffe area, and two of them live together. I guess they are a happy family. They lazily basked in the sun and "sipped afternoon tea" leisurely.

The Towering Red Mountain People who have been to Urumqi always let their hearts fly to the distance and went out one after another to look for the distant scenery.

In this way, the nearby Red Mountain is left out in the cold. Hongshan is beautiful and has many touching legends.

Hongshan stands abruptly in the center of Urumqi. It is named after the purple-red sandstone of the Permian period that is red in color. The mountain is 1.5 kilometers long, 1 kilometers wide, and 910.6 meters above sea level.

It is said that in 1785 and 1786, Urumqi was hit by floods for two consecutive years. The floods were raging and hurt the people. The reason is that the evil dragon flew from Tianshan Yaochi, and it also merges with the Demon Mountain to the west of Red Mountain. If that happens, Urumqi will become an ocean.

For this reason, in the 53rd year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (May 1788), Shang An, the commander-in-chief of the Qing Dynasty, built a pagoda on Hongshan Mountain and Demon Mountain respectively, which suppressed the evil dragon, and everything was safe ever since. In the evening, when I drove here and stepped into the mountains, I felt that the mountains looked like a painting.

This is a veritable red mountain. Not only the cliffs in the sky are red, but also the stone steps going up the mountain are red. Although the weather is still very hot, as soon as I set foot on the mountain road, the coolness and the fragrance of grass immediately hit my nose.

The trees on both sides of the mountains are dense and green. It is the time of watering now. Various sprinklers in the trees are spraying like flowers, bringing a crystal clear, elegant and rainbow to those who pass by. Most people don't feel that this is the depths of the northwest, but that they are walking in the greenery of the south of the Yangtze River. Climbing up the mountain, you are faced with a three-story overlooking tower, with carved beams and painted roofs and soaring eaves, which is magnificent and spectacular.

Climb upstairs, lean on the railing and have a panoramic view of the city. Looking to the north, the Tianshan Mountains are majestic, running from east to west. The ice and snow on the main peak of Bogda shine coldly in the sunlight, crystal clear, elegant and bright.

Looking down at the city, look at the tall buildings rising from the ground beneath the greenery, standing tall and bright, showing a sense of vitality. After passing the overlooking building to the south, the breeze blew along the way, and the gloomy heat was immediately swept away.

When you reach the top of the mountain, you will find that the wind on the mountain is very clear, long and refreshing. Let the wind blow by, and you will immediately feel a refreshing refreshing feeling.

Although the weather is hot, when we get to the mountain, the wind washes us off, which makes us feel happy and comfortable, and I feel that summer is also beautiful. Not far away, a tall and white statue came into view. It was the national hero Lin Zexu.

When I came to see it, the statue was carved from white marble, more than 3 meters high, and seated on a red granite base. The statue is vast and majestic, majestic and indomitable.

On the side of the portrait is written in red pen a poem written by Lin Zexu on his visit to Hongshan in the 25th year of Daoguang's reign, that is, December 4, 1845: Let him sing wildly and lie drunk at the mouth of Hongshan Mountain. Where the wind is strong, the scales rise.

Lin Zexu (1785--1850), courtesy name Yuanfu and Shaomu, was a Houguan native of Fujian (today's Fuzhou). In 1838, Emperor Daoguang appointed him as the Imperial Envoy to control the Guangdong Navy.

With his heroic feat of eliminating opium in Humen, he became a hero for the Chinese nation to resist foreign aggression. After the destruction of opium in Humen, while he was engaged in an indomitable struggle against the British invaders, he was dismissed from his official position by the fatuous Emperor Daoguang in 1840 and was exiled to Ili, Xinjiang.

People only know that Lin Zexu is a hero for eradicating cigarettes, but few know that he is an expert in flood control. When he served in Fujian, he presided over water conservancy and made many achievements.

On his way to Yili, the emperor ordered him to be temporarily exempted from the garrison and asked him to help manage the Yellow River. When the river work was completed in 1842, he was sent to Ili again.

During his stay in Xinjiang, he traveled to the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, presided over the construction of farmland water conservancy, promoted farmland irrigation, and worked hard for Xinjiang's water control. In the first month of 1845, he was transferred back to the mainland by the imperial court, but he left a good reputation in Xinjiang.

People set up a statue of Lin Zexu on this red mountain, which not only expresses people's love for this national hero, but also means using his wisdom and talent to control mountains and waters and ensure peace. To the south of the statue, across the valley, at the mouth of Hongshan Mountain where the red rocks rise majestically, stands a 10.5-meter-high 9-level brick tower. This is the Hongshan Tower.

Looking in the setting sun, the tower is thin, leaving a shadow of vicissitudes and fatigue, as if it is tired from guarding the evil dragon for many years. With this tower on the mountain, it becomes a little spiritual, which is also a magical sign.

Turning to look at the Demon Mountain opposite, there is a similar tower echoing in the setting sun. Standing under the tower, open your eyes and see the broad streets, endless traffic, and the growing city bathed in the red sunset, you suddenly feel that Xinjiang is rising.

Today, we no longer worry about raging floods as we did in the past, because Xinjiang has not only risen, but is about to enter an era of large-scale development, and a new Xinjiang is coming. Watching the mountain tower gradually melting into the glow of the setting sun, I felt a strong thought: This tower is just a microcosm, and it is the hard-working and brave people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang who really restrain the evil dragon.
