How to improve your photography level with the help of photography exhibition?
First, photography style.
Observing two or three works of a single photographer, how would you describe their photography style? Identify at least two ways to define styles.
No matter who your favorite photographer is, they all have styles that you recognize and like. Identifying, defining and analyzing the elements that make up someone's style is of great help to help you improve and determine your signature style.
Second, skills.
Find at least one photography technique that you have never used before, and then incorporate it into your photography. It may or may not apply to your photos, but it can give you some ideas about this technological change. In addition, some creative skills can help you develop your way of thinking.
Third, have a general look first, and then have a detailed look.
Take a quick look at a photo that catches your eye. What was your first reaction? What does this mean to you? Then look at the title. Will this information change your appreciation and interaction with works of art? 10 to 15 minutes later. Has your vision changed?
Although a work itself may be a work of art, it is up to us to provide meaning. How we interpret it is determined by our own life experiences, beliefs and knowledge background. So, how does the title provide the context and meaning that may be missing in the image? How can a few clever words change our views? Does your image tell a complete story, or does it need some explanation to understand?
Fourth, favorite works
Look at the whole exhibition and choose your favorite works, which is generally a prominent one. It may be something you can't get rid of, or something that makes you laugh, cry, shrink back or think. Why do you have such a strong reaction to that work? What did the master photographer do to fascinate you so much?
Fifth, convey the artistic conception of photos.
Find a photo and tell a story that you can empathize with. How do photographers make static objects (such as photos) tell a story? Is it a composition? Lights? Elements in the picture? What is the transmission of emotion?
Six, analysis of photos
1). Composition: This is what photographers are most familiar with. How do we organize the elements of the scene into a pleasant and coherent whole? We know the dichotomy, using real or implied shapes and all other "composition rules". How are these rules used? What makes this combination work?
2). Clothing, posture and makeup: If there are people in the camera, their posture, clothing and makeup have many hints for them, which is very helpful for building a story. These elements are used as visual shorthand to provide us with clues about the role without having to explain everything. How are they used in photos? What do they tell us about people and behavior?
3) Set design and props: What does the set tell you? What are all the props? Why did you put them there? What role do they play? In photography, ask yourself what role each element of size plays in the photo. If something doesn't play a meaningful role, why is it there?
4) Lighting: How can the intensity, color, direction and quantity of light remind the audience? How light is used. Light can set the emotional tone for the image and guide the audience's attention.
5). Effect: Is this lens black and white or color? Is it granular or not granular? Is the color soft or bright? What effect does this choice have on the audience? What message does it convey?
6) Aspect ratio: Do you always take pictures with the aspect ratio of the camera sensor? It may be cut from 4 x 6 to 8 x 10 later.
Or a square. The selected aspect ratio is an expressive choice, which shapes the feeling of the image. Maybe you should try to use a specific aspect ratio for composition, not just the aspect ratio provided by the camera.
