Beijing Film Academy, referred to as Nortel for short, is the only film professional college in China, the largest in Asia and world-renowned. It is a public art college headed by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and supported by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the Ministry of Education.

The predecessor of Beiying was 1950, the performing arts research institute of the Central Film Bureau. 195 1 was renamed as the Film Academy of the Film Bureau of the Central Ministry of Culture, 1953 was renamed as the Beijing Film Academy, and 1956 was finally transformed into the Beijing Film Academy. The Beijing Film Academy has trained more than 20,000 filmmakers for the new China film industry since its establishment more than 60 years ago, and is known as the "cradle of China film talents".
