What museums and art galleries are worth visiting in Tokyo?

In and around Tokyo, there are actually a large number of large and small museums and art galleries, with a wide variety of types and themes. Some contain priceless historical artifacts and works of art, while others tell the story of Japan's traditional culture and history through models, objects and pictures. This is inherently a different cultural display, giving everyone who sees it a different experience.

1. GA Gallery

It is a specialized architectural art museum run by the famous GA (Global Architecture) magazine. Futakawa father and son (Futakawa Yukio passed away last year) have deep connections in the Japanese architectural community, and solo and group exhibitions of major architectural celebrities are often held here.

The first floor is the bookstore of GA Publishing House.

Ticket fee is 500 yen

A one-minute walk from Kitashinto Station on the Duxin Line.

2.TOTO Gallery Room

Yes, that is Make a toilet seat. TOTO owns a TOTO publishing house, which almost all publishes books on architectural culture. So I specially built a gallery room on the third and fourth floors of my bathroom showroom for architectural display. The content of the exhibition is relatively avant-garde, and there are many young architects, including Japanese and overseas architects. There is a terrace on the third floor, where architects often build 1:1 models, which is very interesting.

The second floor is the bookstore of TOTO Publishing House.

Free admission

One minute walk from Tokyo Uchikizaka Station.

3. Daikanyama Hillside Terrace

Makfumihiko was a rare integrated plan in Tokyo in the last century. It is located south of Tokudera Daikanyama Station. It is a planning case in itself and has a very high architectural research value. Because it is an entire neighborhood with houses, restaurants, and galleries. There are usually various exhibitions, including design and architecture. However, because the SD Review Exhibition, known as the Works Exhibition of Japanese Young Architect Deng Longmen, is held in Building F of Hillside every year, I also brought it in.

50 meters to the west, there is my favorite bookstore in Tokyo, Miyake Bookstore.

The block is free, but the entrance fee to the exhibition hall in Building F is not certain.

Daikanshan, Jidong Cross Line, two minutes’ walk.

4. POLA Art Museum

POLA Art Museum is located in Fuji-Hakone National Park on the outskirts of Tokyo. It has a total of 9,500 art collections. All these precious works of art were preserved by Tsukiji Suzuki, the former president of the POLA Group, who collected more than 400 treasures of 19th-century French Impressionism over more than 40 years.

In addition, there are Japanese foreign paintings, Japanese paintings, oriental ceramics, glass crafts and cosmetic props. The areas covered are wide. There are five exhibition halls, each displaying works of different styles.
