What is a shift camera?

Compared with ordinary cameras, the main feature of axis-shifting cameras is that the lens (or the lens plate on which the lens is mounted) and the back of the mounted film can be moved or twisted through flexible connectors (such as leather cavities), thus changing the perspective effect and definition range of images. For architectural photography, which is engaged in shooting three-dimensional space and needs to clearly show multiple faces of the subject, the displacement between the lens and the back (commonly known as the amount of shifting axis) is the most critical, which is also the most used function in the actual operation of shifting axis cameras. With this shift function, the photographer can rotate the shift button on the camera while keeping the camera horizontal, and move the center of the image plane of the lens up or down relative to the center of the film plane, so that the focal length of the lens can move the top (when shooting on the ground) or bottom (when shooting at a height) of the building to a suitable position in the picture according to the needs of composition, and the vertical line of the building is always vertical in the photo, avoiding the use of ordinary cameras.
