Editing is arbitrary. This article does not teach editing theory. Technique 1: interactive editing, where multiple shots pave the way for one thing.

There are actually two kinds of video clips: the first one is to cut in chronological order; The second is to cut it out of order. Sequential cropping is suitable for movies and TV series. The extreme situation is that a mirror looks at the end and takes a shot from beginning to end. A mirror is the most primitive editing technique, which was abandoned by the masters decades ago. Recently, however, a video with a mirror to the end is on fire again. I think one of the reasons is to pay tribute to classicism, and the main reason is that most people have never seen this "old" technique. Disordered editing can be called interactive editing. The essence of interactive editing is Hu Jian: combining seemingly unrelated shots to express one thing and give people a subjective attitude.

Look at the video above, these four materials were shot in different seasons and places, which can be said to be four completely different clips. One is the picture taken by the car recorder, the other is the scene taken by the author when he was shooting a model outside, and the other is the audience and the traffic along the way during the music festival. When we connect them in a certain order and lengthen the last piece of material, it looks like different people are going to the music festival from all directions.

It's still these four materials. We changed the last paragraph to girls' study, so the whole video became a description of girls' study.

Remember one thing on this page: don't just use the material taken today to describe today's events. The video taken yesterday can also be used to supplement the numbers. For example, I left a lot of scenery materials, such as sunrise, and I can use any video. Where is the sun not the sun?

We often listen to what artists call montage, which is not a mysterious thing, but actually an extension of interactive editing. Many friends can achieve the montage effect inadvertently when editing videos. If we have to trace back to a founder, it should be Eisenstein and his "battleship potemkin". Tip 2: Use Montage

Looking back at interactive editing, we use different shots to pave the way for one thing, but the definition of montage is broader, and different scenes, different scenes, different people and so on are used to describe the same emotion. In the small scene shot by the author in the above video, there are at most a few shots between the middle shot and the close shot, which can express the feeling of being silent together, and then watch the next paragraph.

What I want to tell you is that although montage is too colorful, novices try to describe their emotions with different materials, either close-ups or panoramic views.

The video above has close-ups, prospects, scenery and people, strung together to express the fashion and excitement of sports. This video is more in line with the general theory of montage and more suitable for experienced users. I have many examples to share. Why did I choose this sports video?

Because: No matter how broad the definition of montage is, the rhythm of our material should be at least the same, slow and fast, especially when several snapshots are followed by an old man.

Academic editing textbooks will tell you that there must be obvious changes between two adjacent shots. For example, if the previous shot is panoramic, then the next shot must be followed by a close-up; Another example is the front shot of the character, while the back shot must be the back of the character or simply another person. If the difference between the two shots is not obvious, it will look awkward. Is it really embarrassing?

Tip 3: jump and cut, with a note-like rhythm.

In the first half of the video above, a girl feeds her boyfriend ice cream. Although it is a beautiful thing, outsiders look dull. There is a video behind. The video uses skipping rope, which looks more interesting. If you add music to the MV, it will look very playful.

The process of skipping rope is simple. For example, the rectangle in the above picture is the whole material. When editing, just go to a section and leave a section. The only thing to note is that it is best to have a clear distinction between pictures that leave the material. Skipping rope is an opportunistic editing method, but please note that your work will either skip rope once or all. Adding skipping rope clips two or three times to the video will have the opposite effect.

Skipping reading needs special attention: the selected material should be "the theme remains unchanged and the details change greatly" How to understand this sentence? For example, a girl turns her head and throws her long hair, but the theme remains the same and the details change a lot. This kind of video is suitable for skipping processing.

In the above paragraph, the whole video is that several people walk up side by side without looking back and other unnecessary actions. The effect after skipping processing is not good, so you need to pay special attention when editing video.

Traditional editing insists that the audience can't see the traces of editing, but skipping completely subverts this concept. This editing technique originated from the French new wave film, which first appeared in the movie Exhausted, in which one passenger's car was cut into several sections, and the movie Suffocation even used the jumping technique in the scene that lasted for several minutes.

Why skipping rope is a pleasing editing technique, because it can reprocess a boring shot without adding other elements, making the video interesting, and the variable speed technique has the same effect. Variable speed processing is easy to understand, that is, the first half of a material is played at normal speed, and the second half is accelerated or decelerated.

Tip 4: Slow down and express your thoughts and feelings.

The videos that use this technique the most belong to graduation MV. We recall a picture of a group of high-spirited young people standing in front of the camera, jumping up after 3, 2, 1 and throwing their bachelor hats into the sky. Conservatively speaking, basically 99% of the manufacturers will adopt slow processing here.

The editing skills that can be taught you in the article are really limited. Whether it's interactive editing, skipping or slow processing, I want to tell you to bring emotions into the video. We can often see piano players, sometimes quietly tapping the keys with their heads down, and sometimes tossing their fingers like flying heads, in order to convey the feelings in music to the audience. The processing of video speed is the same as playing the piano, and different emotions are conveyed through different speeds.

Variable speed: Generally speaking, there are more cases of slow speed than acceleration. We can equate the effect of slow speed with "aggravation". For example, when girls meet boys, we should emphasize their feelings when they meet, so that we can slow down when they pass by.

Tip 5: connect the same lens group together.

"Today, the teacher took us for a spring outing, and our friends were so happy. When we went out, we all brought a lot of food, some with sausages, some with bread, some with chocolate ... "This is a common way of writing in our primary school. Do you remember its name? Yes, it is parallel. In fact, we also have a similar method in the video, commonly known as side-by-side editing and scientific name parallel editing. Let's watch the video below first.

For example, in general, the video materials we shoot can be classified according to time, place and people. For example, four or five friends go to a concert together, and the process of going, including taking the subway and taking the bus, can be divided into time categories. Taking a group photo at the entrance of the concert and scanning the panoramic view of the venue can be divided into location categories. When editing, different materials of a category are continuously spliced, which can be called parallel editing, which is what we call parallel editing. I pieced together the frustrated shots of the magician, that is, the materials of the character categories were grouped side by side.

In fact, parallel editing covers a wide range of contents. Many sci-fi movies, such as Inception, juxtapose materials from different time and space, which is the most special example of parallel editing. When we are editing, as long as things happen at the same time, we can edit them side by side, which will have unexpected effects.
