Will overexposed photos of SLR cameras turn white and damage CMOS?
2. Whether the light will damage the sensor depends on the light intensity. The light intensity causes the sensor to be damaged, because the light intensity is higher than the saturation threshold of the sensor. As a result, some (or even all) photodiodes (i.e. pixels) on the sensor have current breakdown, the amplifier element fails, and the sensor is damaged permanently. This is not necessarily related to the exposure time, which affects the light quantity, but does not change the light intensity;
3. The design intensity of sensor saturation threshold is based on natural light. At present, the light intensity of all natural light is lower than the saturation threshold of the sensor, including direct sunlight, so shooting under natural light will not damage the sensor. The saturation threshold of sensors in the field of national defense science and technology (such as satellites) is based on electro-light, and the intensity of electro-light is higher than that of natural light;
4. There are two kinds of light that can damage the sensor. One is lightning. Laser (commonly known as laser), such as stage laser and landscape laser. , is the most common in civil electro-optics.
5. The linear energy of laser (one of the light intensity attributes) is very high, which is much higher than the saturation threshold of the sensor. It is a physical law that the light intensity is higher than the saturation threshold of the sensor, which will definitely damage the sensor. Welding light does not belong to laser. Although the intensity of welding light is relatively high, it will damage the eyes (it is the same reason that welding light and human eyes can't look directly at the sun, but the intensity of welding light is higher than that of the sun), but it will not damage the sensor;
6. The convex lens will condense light. Convex light is natural light condensed by a convex lens (such as a magnifying glass). ), its light intensity increases geometrically according to the ratio of degree and time. In the state of natural light intensity, the natural light intensity gathered by convex mirror increases greatly with the increase of time. For example, after sunlight passes through a magnifying glass, the matchstick can be lit within a certain period of time. The light collected by convex mirror will approach the critical value of sensor saturation threshold, which may lead to sensor damage. Convex lenses have telescopic and magnifying functions, but they are mostly used in telephoto lenses and macro lenses, so when using telephoto lenses and macro lenses, you can't face strong direct sunlight for a long time, which will damage the sensor, but not for short time and other short-focus ordinary lenses;
7. The reason for overexposure and photo whitening is that the luminous flux per unit time overflows, but the light intensity does not increase, so it will not damage CMOS.
