Yang Buting, China Film Group: The Road to Internationalization of China Film Industry

On April 18, 2009, following the visit of Wang Changtian, President of Light Media, to Yanyuan, Yang Buting, President of China Film Distribution and Projection Association and Chairman of China Film Overseas Promotion Company, was invited to visit No.205 of Peking University as a series of lectures in the 2009 Beijing University Students' Cultural and Creative "Future Leaders" Entrepreneurship Competition.

As a combination of art and science and technology, film is in the ascendant. From silent black and white to audio color, and now to digitalization, China film is a rising star in the world. From the "propaganda tool of the Party" in the early days of the People's Republic of China to the "film industry" and then to the "cultural goods with ideological attributes", China's films are gradually developing to find their own position in the times. Especially in the past 30 years of reform and opening up, a series of great changes have taken place in China's film industry, showing infinite vitality and vigor.

Yang Buting has been engaged in film work for more than 30 years, and has personally experienced the process of reform and opening up in the film industry, which has played an indelible role in the development and growth of China films. Yang Buting can be regarded as a leader in this field. He has served as deputy director of the Film Administration of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, member of the Fifth Science and Technology Committee of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and chairman of China Film Group. He has successively presided over the development project of China's first 70mm /8-hole and 10-hole camera, the national key scientific and technological project "Application research of high-precision continuous image digital processing system" (namely digital film production technology), and the research project of China cinema computer ticketing management system, which has made outstanding contributions to China's digital film leading the world.

For more than an hour, Yang Buting explained the history and current situation of China's film industry, the market structure and business model, and the relationship with overseas. He hopes that our movies will win the love of people all over the world like "Chinese food". The realization of this dream involves the relationship between localization and internationalization. China's film industry must firmly grasp the pulse of the country, keep up with the pace of scientific and technological development, and constantly meet the market demand of the whole world. At the end of the lecture, Yang Buting patiently answered students' questions about the development of cultural industry. Finally, the film industry leaders expressed their appreciation and support to Peking University Cultural Industry Research Institute for actively helping college students solve the employment problem, and wished the 2009 Beijing College Students Cultural and Creative "Future Leaders" Entrepreneurship Competition a complete success.
