Techniques and methods of time-lapse photography

The skills and methods of time-lapse shooting are as follows:

1. daytime shooting: basically, you can set the exposure mode in aperture priority mode, while the white balance is selected automatically, and the ISO value is as low as possible. Most importantly, the shutter speed should be as slow as possible. If you shoot with a high-speed shutter of11000 seconds or 1 /2000 seconds, you will get a condensed instantaneous picture, but you need to edit it into a flowing film later.

Therefore, it is suggested to slow down the shutter speed as much as possible, such as 1/50 seconds or less, which will be more convenient and the later picture will be smoother.

2. Photometric mode: It is recommended that you use comprehensive/average photometry (matrix photometry and weighted photometry), because the shooting time of time-lapse photography is very long, during which the scenery is constantly changing. If you choose central dimming or spot metering, metering errors may occur, resulting in the problem that the bright part is too bright or the dark part is too dark.

3. exposure compensation: generally speaking, if the shooting can be reduced by about 0.3EV, the picture color will be saturated; If you don't add/subtract light at all, the overall color will be very dull.

4. Focus: For daytime shooting, you can turn on autofocus first, then turn off autofocus and switch to manual focus. This is to prevent some moving scenes, vehicles or people from affecting the focusing system during shooting, resulting in the focusing area running to the wrong range.

Extended data

First, time-lapse photography is suitable for shooting subjects: clouds in the sky, the movement of stars, sunrise and sunset, moving light, traffic and people, and even flowers and falling flowers can be shot into time-lapse video.

Second, shooting equipment: mobile phone or digital SLR, micro-single, stable tripod, cable releaser for fixing shooting equipment.

Third, the shooting method: for mobile phones and some micro-orders, you can use the time-lapse photography APP to shoot directly. SLR needs to use the "interval shooting" function to shoot a series of photos, and then synthesize them later;

If the SLR doesn't have the interval shooting function, it can be shot with timed pay-off. Let's take the Sony micro-single and Nikon D8 10 SLR I am currently using as examples to talk about how to shoot.
