National activities to commemorate the International Day of Monuments and Sites

In recent years, various provinces have also begun to actively cooperate with the relevant themes of the International Day of Monuments and Sites, holding some activities such as opening museums and holding exhibitions for free. For example, in 2008, the Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau launched a series of activities such as reducing or exempting tickets for religious shrines in Henan Province in combination with the theme of "Religious Heritage and Holy Places"; On April 18, 2009, Ningbo cultural and art circles also held the 4th Ningbo International Monuments and Sites Day, which included popular science education, academic discussion and the popularization and application of advanced technology. Ningbo Wenbao Institute, Municipal Cultural and Art Office, Guobao Temple Ancient Architecture Museum, Tianyi Pavilion, City Library and City Group Art Museum all held "Big Classroom" on Ningbo Cultural Heritage and Guobao Temple Ancient Architecture Complex.

However, the International Day of Monuments and Sites is not everywhere in China, and it has not been paid enough attention by relevant departments in some provinces. This is not because European countries have no awareness of protecting historical sites, but because of "European Heritage Day". 1984, the French Ministry of Culture established the third weekend of September every year as the Historical and Cultural Heritage Day, and later became the European Heritage Day. During the Heritage Day, people can visit some public service institutions that don't receive tourists on weekdays. Even places that are usually heavily guarded, such as the Elysee Palace in the French Presidential Palace and the Bourbon Palace in the French National Assembly, are open to welcome guests today. There are also some famous theaters, hospitals, schools, gymnasiums, and even the audience can enter private villas, castles, factories and so on. This is especially open for traditional days to explore the secrets behind the scenes. In venues that can receive tourists at ordinary times, many special programs will be added at this time, or tour guides will explain them, or ancient crafts will be demonstrated on the spot, or concerts, plays and other performances will be held. Since 199 1, this cultural event has been extended to the whole of Europe. With the encouragement of the European Parliament and the European Union, 47 countries organized similar activities.
