Small Pond

(Song Dynasty) Yang Wanli

The spring is silent and cherishes the trickle, and the shade of the trees shines on the water, which is clear and soft.

The little lotus has just revealed its sharp corners, and a dragonfly has already stood on it.

His poems were learned from the "Jiangxi School of Poetry" in his early years, and later he devoted himself to the poets of the late Tang Dynasty. After he was 50 years old, he suddenly had an enlightenment, abandoned all other schools, and changed from imitating his predecessors to imitating nature, forming the unique "Chengzhai style". . Most of the poems sing about natural scenery, are good at capturing fleeting details, take advantage of the mood, have novel ideas, popular and clear language, humor and fresh writing style.

-Vernacular Translation-

The spring is silent because it is reluctant to let go of the thin water, and the shadow of the tree reflects on the water surface because it loves the sunny weather and the gentle wind.

As soon as the delicate little lotus leaf revealed its sharp corners from the water, there was already a naughty little dragonfly standing on it.

-Introduction to poetry-

"Little Pond" is a seven-character quatrain created by the Song Dynasty poet Yang Wanli. This poem is small and delicate, like a colorful ink painting of flowers, plants, insects and birds. In the painting, the pools, springs, streams, lotuses and dragonflies are all small, yet exquisite and full of vitality.

In the poem, the author uses rich and novel imagination and personification techniques to delicately describe the characteristics and changes of the natural scenery around the pond. The first sentence says that the small pond is connected by living water, the second sentence writes that there is a green shade above the small pond to protect it, the third sentence writes that the lotus comes out of the water and stays with the small pond, and the final sentence writes that the dragonfly is affectionate and flies to be with the little lotus. It expresses the poet's love for natural scenery.

Appreciation

Everything in this poem is so detailed, so soft, and so affectionate. Every sentence is like a poem, every sentence is picturesque, showing the bright early summer scenery, natural and simple, and truly touching.

This poem describes a spring, a trickle, a pool of tree shade, a few small lotus leaves, and a small dragonfly, forming a vivid picture of the scenery of a small pool, showing the beauty of nature. The intimate and harmonious relationship between all things in it. The two sentences at the beginning, "The spring is silent and cherishes the trickle, and the shade of the tree shines on the water, loving the clear and soft", bringing the reader into a small, delicate, soft and pleasant realm. A trickle slowly flows out of the spring without any sound; Under the rays of the setting sun, the green trees throw their shade into the water, with mottled light and dark clearly visible.

A word "Cherish" turns ruthlessness into affection, as if the spring is flowing slowly and silently because it cherishes every drop; a word "Love" gives life to the green tree, as if it is fond of This clear and soft scenery uses water as a mirror to show its graceful grace. In the third and fourth sentences, the poet is like a clever photographer, using a quick lens to take a very interesting shot: "The little lotus has just revealed its sharp corners, and dragonflies have already stood on it." The time has not yet reached midsummer, and the lotus leaves A sharp corner just emerged from the water, and a small dragonfly stood on it. One is "talented" and the other is "early standing", taking care of each other, vividly depicting the scene of the dragonfly and the lotus leaf cuddling together.

Yang Wanli advocates learning from nature when writing poems. He has a strong interest in natural scenery. He often uses fresh and lively writing styles and plain and popular language to describe the ordinary scenery he sees every day. He is especially good at capturing the characteristics and characteristics of the scenery. The fleeting changes form an interesting picture, so the poem is full of rich flavor of life. Ancient poems translated today: The quietness of the spring means that it cherishes the thin flow of water, and the shadow of the trees reflecting on the water means that it likes the gentleness of sunny days. The small tender lotus has just exposed its tightly wrapped leaf tips, and a cute dragonfly has flown in early and is standing on it. Artist Zhu Xuanxian created the Chinese painting "Little Lotus Revealing Its Sharp Corners" based on the poetry of Yang Wanli's "Little Pond", which vividly and vividly reflects this poetic feeling.

Teaching reflection

An ancient poetry teaching activity appeared in the kindergarten class. In order to improve the teaching of ancient poetry and combine it with the characteristics of the season, I chose the ancient poem "Little Pond". During the activity, I passed the courseware The pictures let the children initially feel the beauty of the scenery of the small pond and the artistic conception of the ancient poems, and let the children describe the scenery they saw in their own words. When the children fully expressed the meaning of the pictures in their own words, the teacher changed the topic: In ancient times, there were A poet named Yang Wanli also felt that the scenery was beautiful like you. He was intoxicated by the beauty of this early summer, so he wrote the classic poem "Little Pond" that has been passed down through the ages. Do you want to hear how the poet used verses to describe this scene? What about the screen? At this time, the children's interest in listening to ancient poetry was aroused. How would the poet use ancient poetry to describe such a scene? How would it be different from what we said? So in the scenario cleverly designed by the teacher, the children entered the ancient poetry teaching activities with this idea in mind.

When understanding the content of ancient poems, teachers closely grasp the scenery described in the poem: springs, tree shades, small lotus, dragonflies, to elicit corresponding poems for learning and reciting, and let the children learn through pictures and texts Combined with the feeling of the connection between the spring and the spring water, the shade of the tree and the pond water, the lotus and the dragonfly, you can feel the harmony and beauty of nature. In order to allow children to better feel the artistic conception of ancient poems, they have a certain understanding of the key words in the poems. When understanding, the children's experience of "word blossoming" is used in daily life, and the key words in ancient poems are divided into words. In this way, the children are not only very interested, but also easily understand the meaning of the words.

During the teaching, I also saw the shortcomings in the teaching: if after the children freely talked about the content of the picture, the teacher could summarize the children's speech in time and use prose to describe it. The summary description of the picture will be of great help to children to feel the artistic conception of ancient poetry.

Ancient poetry is the magnificent crystallization of Chinese traditional culture. It has the characteristics of short sentences, concise language, and beautiful artistic conception. When teaching ancient poetry, it can increase children's understanding and understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and strengthen children's appreciation of language and their appreciation of beauty. Feeling ability, which has a strong edifying effect on cultivating children's good cultural accomplishment. Teachers’ language should be more refined and concise. In this teaching activity, the teacher asked the children to find the key things, and asked the children to find which poems these scenes were hidden in, to elicit the poems, and then use the method of comparing pictures and texts to understand the ancient poems and feel the artistic conception. If we change the method, after the children find the scenery described in the ancient poem, they immediately return to the picture, and then use the picture to understand the ancient poem for learning, which method is more effective.
