How to shoot delicious dishes

Lead: It seems that it has become one of the pleasures of many modern people's lives to turn over the recipes with sauce and follow the steps in the book to finish the delicious dishes step by step, and then record them by hand through the camera and upload them to WeChat Weibo to share their cooking experience. Of course, photographer Yu Jie is one of them. He shared with you the skills of how to take Japanese-style food photos.

Our family often uses our free time during holidays to cook some special dinners. Because it is special, we often need to read recipes to cook, so it is more time-consuming and laborious than ordinary cooking. It would be a pity if you picked up the camera, did not decorate it, did not set the table, and took pictures of the delicious dishes that were painstakingly managed.

In fact, the most important thing in the pre-production industry is to make food look good and delicious. First of all, you should find a place with natural light, open the window, let the sun overflow the whole space, and this will become your own studio, and then start to decorate it carefully!

Spread a tablecloth and put a wooden spoon full of natural simplicity. Mu Cha, take out your favorite dish and put it on it. After completing the above steps, it is not far from the beautiful photos.

Please try to use natural light when taking pictures, and rely on it boldly! Because I am used to patting the window, the light usually shines into the room from nine o'clock. When dinner is ready, I often find that the sun is going down and the light is getting weak. Don't trust the stability of your hands too much at this time. Put on a tripod! As long as the picture doesn't shake, it doesn't matter if the whole picture looks dark, because every light change can bring different feelings to people. Because of this, the atmosphere of breakfast, lunch and dinner shooting is different, and the content and emotion of the photo are much richer and closer to life.

In addition to the studio made of cloth and background as a medium to create an imaginary overall atmosphere, in fact, the existing materials can also create an overall visual experience. To put it simply, the whole house is taken as a studio, with food and background taken together. Without special structure, ingenious composition can present a sense of disorder.

Natural light can also capture the texture of food.

Every space in the home has different light, dark and bright, which can shoot more diverse atmosphere, and of course it is also a place to shoot delicious food. We can start from the following points, such as home appliances, bottles and jars, places where kitchen utensils are put or bookcases are all good shooting places, which can create very rich pictures and find colorful items, such as red wine bottles and thermos bottles. As a match, you can get great results!

Leave some space to make the photos feel relaxed.

The interest in making snacks is probably similar to that when the author fell in love with photography, so there are many photos of our family making snacks. From the beginning, I took notes at will, and now I try my best to set the plate, consider the light and shoot. The picture changes a lot along the way, and light is one of the most important factors. Because at the beginning, we always used incandescent lamps or yellow lights at home, and the food was often yellow or blue, so it was difficult to make good-looking and delicious snacks.

In addition to accumulating more experience, the author also began to observe other people's shooting methods. On the website, I saw a photo of a housewife's life. It can be seen that all her photos are prepared in advance, including the careful arrangement of tablecloths and groceries, as well as the painted walls. In addition, the author also found that every photo of her was taken in natural light. The author followed suit and found that I could gradually get the feeling I wanted, that is, the feeling that was a little overexposed, imperfect but full of life breath. Making good use of natural light is the biggest secret of making snacks.

Try to join the scenes in life, such as reading books, preparing snacks, and choosing related equipment to match, so that there will be no sense of disobedience and the picture will be more harmonious.

Because I have been holding the idea that I want to share with you, or perhaps because of this idea, I have the motivation to take better photos. Sometimes photography really needs an idea and support.

The muffin in the picture below was shot in reverse light. Although the muffin was not shot very carefully, it captured a sweet appetizing atmosphere. You can try to make use of the sunshine that obliquely shines into the room in the afternoon to make the snacks full of warm colors. Although low color temperature can restore the color of food itself, it seems that there is a little less atmosphere, so it is best to adjust it according to the color temperature at that time. If you want to shoot snacks with your own flavor of life, you can try to manually adjust the focus to EV+2 to make the picture look a little out of focus and overexposed.

Proper control of exposure and white balance can add points to the work.

Of course, the collocation of objects is also very important. In addition to using table towels, you can also try to match wooden materials without bright paint. I think this is the most important part, because after reading many favorite cookbooks, I found that it is really important to find a good wooden table background, and the color of wood almost determines the overall picture. So I searched for wood for a long time and asked some handicraft shops around, but I didn't have a particularly favorite choice. Finally, I found a board made of oak in the kitchen area of IKEA.

In fact, it takes only a few angles to shoot food, and it is never absolute. I like to shoot the central object, first with a 90-degree banner, then with a 45-degree vertical composition, and finally with a plate touching one of the two sides of the picture, which is also my favorite perspective. Find your favorite angle, so you don't have to worry about shooting all the time in the future. A composition with high similarity is always attractive to the author. After all, the author is a person who loves the same picture.

If you want to capture the breath of life in your heart, you can try to manually focus on EV+2 to make the picture a little out of focus, overexposed and unique.
