Extended data:
I. Company history
Cathay Pacific Airlines was founded on September 24th by Roy C Farrell of American nationality and Sydney H de Kantzow of Australian nationality. At first, they all developed in Shanghai in the name of Australia-China Import and Export Corporation, and later moved to Hong Kong because of protectionism and registered as Cathay Pacific.
Initially, two DC-3 aircraft modified from C-47 transport aircraft were used for passenger and cargo charter flights to and from Manila, Bangkok, Singapore and Shanghai. Cathay Pacific Airlines is the first airline in Hong Kong to provide civil aviation services.
1948 acquired a 45% stake in Cathay Pacific at that time. Later, the British Hong Kong government assigned the route south of Hong Kong to Cathay Pacific and the route north to Cathay Pacific's only local competitor, Hong Kong Airlines. Until 1958, Cathay Pacific acquired Hong Kong Airlines, officially dominated the local aviation industry and entered the Northeast Asian market.
Second, the sign
CATHAY Pacific began to use white and dark green stripes on the plane from 1960, with only the word "cathay" on the vertical tail and the logo of Swire Group on the nose. In the1970s, Cathay Pacific changed the fuselage painting to bright green lines on a white background, but the logo only added wings to the logo of Swire Group. From the middle of 1980 s to 1994, Cathay Pacific was once marked with a vertical tail with green and white stripes.
In the 1990s, Cathay Pacific decided to update its corporate image. While improving passenger service, 1994 introduced a new version of "Looking Up and Flapping Wings" painting to replace the original green and white painting. ?
The emblem combines the strokes of China's calligraphy and the gesture of a bird spreading its wings, which embodies Cathay Pacific's "Asian characteristics". However, because the logo is similar to shark's fin, Cathay Pacific has been nicknamed "shark's fin aviation" by some people (especially airplane photographers and Cathay Pacific employees).
199 1 years ago, the British flag was affixed to the vertical tail of all Cathay Pacific aircraft, but it was removed before Cathay Pacific changed its paint. The prefix of the aircraft registration number was changed from June 1997 to June 1997, and from "VR-H" to "B-H". Starting from 1995, Cathay Pacific's original green and white painting was gradually replaced.
