Skills of gouache still life structure

Composition is actually difficult to learn and easy to learn.

The simplest composition methods are triangles and quadrangles, which are the most common, meaning that the outermost contours of all scenes are triangles or dead quadrangles.

It can be said that both ancient masters and current painters, both Chinese and western, have a common feature in composition, that is, they can never escape the most basic geometric figures. Take Gauguin's landscape painting as an example. I drew the composition form of this painting on it, which is actually a square with different sizes and echoes each other. We can call this composition square. The square with a broken corner in the upper right corner echoes the square with a small broken corner in the lower right corner, and the hypotenuse echoes the hypotenuse. Although the picture is composed of squares, it is not monotonous. This is because these geometric figures are arranged in different ways, forming a harmonious symphony. This is for you to experience slowly and carefully. I don't mean that you can apply it to the picture immediately when I tell you, but you can comment when you understand it. Look at this painting again. Gauguin's golden section is the most obvious when he divides pictures with squares. This is the longest thing used in composition. You can check it yourself, so I won't go into details. So, is the villain in this painting just a simple decoration? No way, in a painting with a square composition, isn't it monotonous to have nothing that can enliven the atmosphere? This little man can be regarded as a point in the picture. The character of point is active and restless (the personality characteristics of point, line and surface will be involved in college), which plays a positive role in the picture. Maybe when Gauguin painted, there was no such person at all, and the tree at the golden section was not there. Then how can he make such a composition? This is the painter's subjective composition. The objective world will not always present you with a perfect composition for you to follow, but you need to use your brains to draw an objective still life on the canvas to make it more beautiful.

Generally speaking, when composing a composition, all objects should be regarded as geometric shapes, and only the middle ones should be paid attention to? Geometric echo relation, size relation and position relation can be used. Sometimes in some paintings, triangles and squares are interspersed with each other, but in general, it is still a geometric composition.

Specifically, the depth of the picture does not mean that it can stand out as long as the composition is good. If you want to show a sense of depth in composition, you can choose the way of superposition. For example, how do two apples express their relationship when composing music? It's not enough just to have a difference in size. It can also be said that the small apple is in front and the big apple is behind. If the big apple blocks the small apple, then no one will say that the small apple is in front, because it is blocked, how can it be in front? If you look at the still life from your perspective, the apple is close but will not form an occlusion, so you can draw an occlusion subjectively. Anyway, the teacher or examiner will not say that you will go to see the still life after painting, as long as the composition is good. Also, if two apples are far away, you can say that one apple is closer to the bottom of the picture and the other is farther away, which will also form a sense of depth.

The reason why the composition is scattered is that when you draw, every still life is drawn small or far. To put it bluntly, there is no relationship between them. If you put all the still life into an overlapping relationship, it will not disperse as you wish. In addition, the relationship of mutual echo will make the whole picture look scattered, but it is still very compact.
