What does the pre-production of 3D animation include?

Pre-production includes: script, story version and photo list.

It takes a lot of time to determine the version in advance. For example, Nezha has designed 66 versions in the early stage, worked for 5 years and finalized for 2 years.

The first step in any film production is to create a script, but the script of an animated film is very different from a feature film performed by a real person. The most important thing here is to express visual actions with pictures and stimulate people's imagination through visual creation.

The animation script requires conciseness and clarity, and the characters are distinct and prominent. Miyazaki Hayao defined his works as "a simple person telling a simple story", and Disney repeatedly emphasized "a vivid and charming central figure".

According to the script, the story version draws a story sketch similar to a cartoon or a shot, and shows the actions described in the script into a series of pictures, thus constructing the overall structure of an animation.

The sub-lens shows the moving picture and the conception and design of the future picture (including scene atmosphere, role performance, color light and shadow, dialogue and sound effect photography) one by one. It is not necessary to draw the role in detail, as long as the later staff can understand it.

The production schedule is the schedule of the whole film production compiled by the director, which is used to guide the unified coordination of all parties in the animation creation group.

This is the preliminary work of animation.
