How to Correct Photometric Exposure

When it comes to photometry, we have to put forward a concept of 18% gray scale, which is a standard. The principle of camera photometry is to expose all objects with any brightness according to the medium gray scale. That is to say, if you measure a piece of black cloth and a piece of white cloth separately, the camera will get two different sets of exposure value, and the final result reflected on the screen is the same, which is a piece of cloth with 18% gray scale.

After understanding this principle, I will tell you that there is no best exposure, only the exposure you want. The so-called best exposure means that the subject is exposed accurately and the details are kept as much as possible, hehe, but what is accurate? Is it medium gray?

Photography is a kind of creation, only people know art, and the camera is always just a tool.

After accepting the above point of view, what remains is to understand the significance of several kinds of metering, spot measurement, matrix and center focusing of the camera, and then choose the appropriate mode to help you according to the desired effect.

I recommend you to read A. Adams's book on photography. After reading it, you will have a thorough understanding of the significance of photometry.
