Meng Guangtao's Life Portrait

Mr. Meng Guangtao's works are not only treasures of landscape painting, but also a brilliant portrayal of Mr. Meng's lifelong artistic pursuit.

Meng Guangtao, Song Dynasty and Song Dynasty are the "four famous painters" in contemporary Guizhou painting circles. Meng Guangtao, who is good at painting landscape paintings, was born on 19 16, and was admitted to the Art Department of Central University on 1940. He specialized in landscape painting and studied watercolor painting techniques, and was influenced by Chinese painting masters Xu Beihong, Fu Baoshi and Huang Junbi. 1944 was invited to work as an art teacher in Wuchuan Middle School, 1945 left Wuchuan. Although he only taught in Wuchuan for one year, the landscape and human feelings there remained deeply at the end of his brush and in his heart. Nowadays, when villagers talk about Meng Lao, they are full of joy and nostalgia. Meng Guangtao 1944 worked as an art teacher in Wuchuan Middle School. Because he has won the essence of Chinese painting, he attaches great importance to the internal relationship between painting and personality when teaching students to paint. He asked students not to be limited to his painting style, but to combine the strengths of various schools, integrate their unique artistic aesthetics and life values into the brush, and form their own style. Only in this way can they truly reflect an artist's ideology and artistic value.

Because of Meng Lao's unique views and professional qualities on Chinese painting art, he has a subtle influence on people around him. Mr. Zhan, who loves Chinese painting in Wuchuan County, soon became close friends with Meng Lao, and often talked about painting, techniques and confidences together. Later, Wang Meizhan wrote in Memories of Teacher Meng Guangtao: "In order to stimulate students' interest and enthusiasm in painting, he (Meng Guangtao) said in class that painting is an art and a representation of real life. On white paper, you can vividly show mountains, flying springs, jungle vegetation and exotic birds and flowers; You can also put the distant world and vast lakes in your eyes on white paper; You can also draw the emotions and inner spirit of the characters. In short, people who love art must love life. "These words are enough to show Mr. Meng's piety and spirit of seeking for Chinese painting creation. Whether he is a man or a painter, this is undoubtedly a kind of wisdom. He is very particular about his skills in landscape creation, especially his unique techniques in landscape creation. The "axe chop" that represents the magnificent mountains and rivers in Guandong is used to describe the "rice chop" with misty haze and flowing water; Express the "Pima" of Xiushan Lishui in the south of the Yangtze River; Draw a rocky and rocky wasteland, a "Jie Suocun" with lush vegetation, etc. He also took high-altitude clouds, cliffs, river beaches, caves, islands and reefs, smoke sails, rock cliffs, fishing with one shot, and the shepherd boy's return at dusk as courses, and made demonstrations step by step, in simple terms, so that students could copy them one by one, which was of great guiding significance to students' landscape creation. Mr. Zhan's son has collected more than 60 landscape paintings by Meng Lao since he gave lectures. The paintings are pictures of rocks, vegetation, rivers and other scenery in turn, and his brushwork is concise and appropriate. In particular, the painting of reeds makes people feel the dynamic beauty of the breeze at first sight, and the exquisite painting skills make people gasp in admiration.

Meng Lao not only preached and dispelled doubts, but also often went to the countryside with a picture clip and two steamed buns, and created sketches with Wuchuan landscape. During my one-year teaching in Wuchuan, I created the Snow Scene of Kuige, the Pearl Grab by Two Dragons and the Flower Blooming in Tonghua. But with the change of the world, these works have not survived, which is very regrettable.
