Take a composition with a deeper depth of field with a mobile phone.
The "viewing angle" of the mobile phone is actually very eye-catching.
Except for some mobile phones with special emphasis on "wide-angle" shooting, most of the lenses used by many mobile phones are "standard wide-angle" (equivalent to the viewing angle of a full-body camera with a focal length of 35mm), which is similar to the visual field of human eyes staring at the front, about 60? Left and right perspectives, so it is recommended that when shooting with a mobile phone, try not to be limited to the picture on the screen. Instead, we should use the unrestricted observation of our eyes, and we will have higher freedom in framing. With such a high degree of freedom, the mobile phone is very suitable for snapshot photography.

In fact, you can see more clearly if you go deeper. Is the "depth of field" of the mobile phone so deep?
The subtlety of the human eye is that when you look at the present of something, it is easy for you to focus on the thing you care about, just as lovers always ignore the existence of others. Many people like the "shallow depth of field" of monocular cameras, just like staring, and the theme is more vivid under the visual expression of "staring". Different from monocular and micro-monocular large-size photosensitive elements, because the photosensitive elements of mobile phones are small and the relative focal length is short, the scenes taken by mobile phones are deep. However, due to the deep depth of field, we should pay more attention to the corresponding relationship between foreground and background and theme in composition.
* "Depth of field": refers to the clear depth of the subject "before and after" when focusing on the subject, not just the background blur that people often say.

Facing the deeper depth of field, I summarized the following common framing methods according to my own experience:
First, the image can be very pure-the theme is clear, the background is simple, and it can't be simpler.
When we understand the hardware characteristics of mobile phones, the depth of field is deeper and there is no blessing of shallow depth of field. If the background is too messy when taking pictures, it will often usurp the role of the master, and the photos will make the viewer feel puzzled, so "simple background" is the basis of deep depth of field composition. I will try my best to ask myself to "strive for something first" when shooting. I will shoot an image with a prominent theme first, and then pursue further composition. This image is simple and neat. A chef friend of mine once told me, "Cooking a good steak often doesn't require complicated seasonings." I also want to take pictures!

Second, the image needs room for growth-looking for visual directionality.
If the theme is prominent but the picture is slightly monotonous, then it is a good choice to "leave blank" moderately. If the subject of shooting is directional, we can regard the picture as a flower bed; Taking the theme as a plant, leaving blank is to leave space on the flower bed appropriately, so that plants (vision) can have a suitable space to grow, so that the extension of vision makes the image no longer depressed, and also leaves some imagination space.

Third, the image can be dramatic-find out the protagonist and supporting role of the picture.
If you compare the image to a play and want to make it look good, it should be wonderful to find a supporting role for the protagonist (theme) on your screen. In order to make this play wonderful, it can be the affectionate projection of the hero and heroine, the opposition between good and evil between the hero and the bad guy, or? Leave the rest to yourself (laughs), make good use of the master-slave relationship of the picture, and don't let me down when shooting.

Fourthly, images can also be very literary-rhetorical and framed.
Don't stare at the small world on the screen when composing music. Instead, change the focus with the naked eye before shooting, observe and find the corresponding relationship between the foreground and the background. Any possible correlation and echo can be a key element to enrich the picture, and even use literary rhetoric to make the picture speak, such as setting off, transforming, reversing, punning, overlapping, arranging and so on. Wait, but it's enough to superimpose the foreground and background and see if you can spark some sparks. If not! It is better to simplify the complex, make the picture simpler, and take readability as the primary purpose.

5. Frame the hole in the image-make full use of the frame view.
If our language is a photo, an empty description (image) is always difficult to cause * * * sound, and of course the image is also difficult. In order to avoid shooting aimlessly, framing is a good tool. Limiting the vision with a frame and forcing the viewer's eyes to stay on the designed frame is like a love affair. The woman (photographer) set a sweet trap to trap the man (audience), but this time it was harmless. The trap of "photographer" is simple, that is, to change your eyes a little longer.

6. If you look too far, you might as well look closer.
There are three factors that affect the depth of field: aperture, focal length and shooting distance. Because of the hardware, the aperture and focal length of most mobile phones cannot be adjusted, so the shooting distance is the only factor we can control. If you don't want to see too far and too clearly, but also want to take an image with a shallow depth of field, please get closer at the right time, because the closer the shooting distance, the shallower the depth of field will be. If the depth of field is still not shallow enough, then retreat!

If we simplify the focus of this sharing, I think there are four basic and most important points: simple background, timely blank space, supporting role, making good use of framing, and don't let the traditional "composition method" limit your vision. I think this is the interesting part of mobile phone photography.
It has been four years since I started taking photos with my mobile phone, and I suddenly realized that my thoughts are too short and my vision is too narrow, and I am often used to seeing things too shallow or unclear. Through mobile phone photography, I am constantly reminded to listen to the meaning behind the "depth of field", which is the life truth taught by my photography life.
