Do all four hooves of the running horse land at the same time?
Stanford hired photographer muybridge to solve the dispute through photography demonstration. Six years later, muybridge finally provided visual evidence in a unique way: let the horse trip over 24 thin lines connected with the shutter in turn on the runway while running, and took almost 24 photos continuously with 24 cameras. The photo irrefutably proves that the horse does have four hooves leaving the ground at the same time during running. Muybridge's revolutionary shooting experiment extended the cognition beyond human perception, and it was the first time in human history to record a moving horse by photography.
