Alai’s new wireless focus handle is released. Wireless focusing is really more convenient.

ARRI from Germany recently launched its new fifth-generation intelligent wireless follow focus handle Hi-5. As the professional flagship benchmark, ARRI Hi-5 is more suitable for rigorous and high-standard shooting needs. Inside the focus handle, ARRI has improved the electronic control system to achieve the perfect combination of electronic follow focus and wireless systems. First of all, the most unique improvement of ARRI Hi-5 is the addition of an interchangeable radio module. In addition to the conventional 2.4 GHz and ISM frequency bands, the addition of wireless modules allows the crew to shoot more casually and freely. It's easy to handle complex shooting environments.

After all, the three wireless modules of ARRI Hi-5 use 900 MHz and 2400 MHz frequencies. On the one hand, it is protected by serial spread spectrum technology, and at the same time, it also has frequency hopping technology with strong anti-interference ability. In actual shooting, these two functions will automatically select and optimize channels according to the shooting environment to improve the stability of wireless connections. At the same time, it is also backward compatible and can be used with many other wireless devices. The ARRI Hi-5 smart wireless follow focus handle is highly sealed, dustproof, rainproof, and splashproof. There’s no need to worry about shooting in bad weather. At the same time, it can be powered by NP-L series batteries and supports hot swapping. It can be replaced at any time during shooting without shutting down, truly uninterrupted power supply.

Just need to automatically calibrate after connecting, and then mark the position of point AB. There is no need to measure the distance between the camera and the lens anymore, it is all intelligently detected by the focus handle. It is perfectly compatible with mainstream cameras such as ALEXA Mini LF and Canon and RED. Follow focus eliminates the need for wires, and the function controls are all on the large screen of the follow focus handle, making it simple and intuitive to get started quickly. The ARRI Hi-5 smart wireless follow focus handle is available for pre-order this week, but will not be shipped until the end of August. Although the price is not yet clear, it is estimated that such a flagship will be around US$8,000, which is indeed not cheap. At the same time, ARRI said that this is much more complicated than Tilta or other follow focus devices.
