I-D Magazine Overview

"i-D" is older than most people born in the 1980s, but it has always been a favorite among young people. "i-D" was founded in 1980 by Tony Jones, a famous designer and former art director of "Vogue". The first issue was unusual in that it was hand-bound and the contents of the magazine were presented in typewriter font. "i-D" has become a glossy-looking magazine, but it has always maintained its youth-centered street style.

After 30 years of polishing, "i-D" has won the reputation of "a training ground for young geniuses". Well-known photographers Rick Wright, Wolfgang Tillman, Girkin Taylor, Terry Richardson, and Alan Oners have all worked for i-D magazine. At the end of 2004 and the beginning of 2005, when "i-D" began to celebrate its 250th issue, that group of young people had grown into well-known "big shots."
