Are you tired from working at Foxconn?
To be honest, working at Foxconn is not that tiring. When I first arrived at Foxconn, I asked an old employee how Foxconn was. The old employee said a very classic saying: "If you switch from day shift to night shift, you will have black eyes." Circle." I didn't understand the meaning of this sentence at the time, but after changing classes, I really realized the sadness of this sentence. I only lasted more than 90 days from the time I joined Foxconn as a general worker to the time I resigned. Only those who have actually been there will understand the hard work involved.
After coming to Foxconn for more than a month, I was doing a good job on the assembly line of my department, but a group of regular employees came. We ordinary workers who were dispatched had to be sent by the squad leader every day. I support other teams and work while standing.
On the first day, we stood on the assembly line and put products into boxes. On the second day, we cleaned, wiped shelves, railings, etc. Because I stood all day on the first day and had to squat and wipe the shelf railings on the second day, my feet felt really tired. The most annoying thing is that the regular employees are chatting and bragging on the side. When the squad leader and line leader see it, they pretend they haven't seen it and don't say a word. We general workers can't take a break.
After that, I was transferred to the night shift and was assigned to support other teams. I had the same support task for three days in a row, and I always worked while standing. My feet really can't stand it, and they feel pain even when I walk. So after taking a nap during the day, I sent a WeChat message to the line manager to ask if someone else could support me. My feet hurt even after standing for three days. She replied directly to me and said, "I don't need so many people here. There are too many people to recruit now and there is no suitable position for you. If you don't want to do it, just resign." When I saw this sentence, I really wanted to give her 10,000 alpacas.
Okay, I’ll endure it this time in order to support my family. Labor dispatch is like this for general workers at Foxconn. The management is also very chaotic. When we need people during the peak season, we recruit a large number of workers. When we don't need so many people, the leaders will find ways to torture people, making you unable to bear it and quit your job. Those who can flatter and treat small line leaders and monitors to dinner, and give them drinks and cigarettes are indeed very happy. This person who often works in the factory said that this phenomenon is not limited to Foxconn, but is the same in other electronics factories, and some are more serious. I have to admit the old saying, where there are people, there are rivers and lakes. It turns out that the same is true for working in a factory. Everything depends on connections. It's a pity that I haven't been a flattering person since I was a child.
Later I was assigned to a department dedicated to screwing, a standard assembly line, and was responsible for driving two of the screws. The line leader told me that I was required to catch up and familiarize myself with the work as soon as possible. Let me calculate, then I need to drive about 6,000 screws. Isn't it just driving screws? How difficult is it? Starting from the second day, I started to drill screws repeatedly. It was acceptable at first and it was a bit fresh. After working for 2 days, I found that my arms were so sore that I didn’t want to do anything after get off work. If possible, I don’t want to eat, I just want to sleep.
After working for a week, I began to give up thinking. I got used to this working state, getting up, breakfast, screwing, lunch, screwing, dinner, screwing, and bed. It's the same every day. Although working overtime is voluntary, you can't walk away from an assembly line. If you don't work overtime, you can still explain the situation to the line leader. It's difficult to escape. And the reason for high wages is due to overtime.
I became a living robot, repeat, repeat, repeat.
After working at Foxconn for more than three months, one late night with insomnia, I realized that if I continue like this, I will really become a salted fish without dreams. I applied for resignation the next day, and a few days later I paid my salary and left. After leaving Foxconn, I suddenly felt a lot more relaxed. Although I am now back to my old job in the home decoration industry, although it is hard work, I have regular sleep and free time.
I would like to advise you not to think that you can work in a factory and learn professional knowledge at the same time. It is too unreal. I also had this idea when I entered. After working for a few days, I found that it was impossible. I worked 10 hours a day. For hours, I was so exhausted that I had no time to study. This is my real experience of working at Foxconn.
